Placement of a small amount of dermal filler to this lovely patient’s chin for chin projection resulted in facial balancing. But how do we assess this? 🤔

The Ricketts E (esthetic) line was created by orthodontist Dr. Ricketts to identify proper lower face alignment. It’s a great assessment tool now used by aesthetic injectors to look at ideal proportions of the lower face - specifically the proportion of the lips in relation to the nose and chin.

Ricketts E-Line
A line is formed from the tip of the nose to the tip of the chin. For Caucasians, ideally the lower lip is meant to be 2mm behind the line while the upper lip should be 4mm behind the line. This, of course, has variations with all different ethnicities but serves as a good baseline to keep facial harmony when injecting.
