Midlife was never meant to carry this much.

Between parenting, caregiving, and everything else life demands, it’s easy to put your own needs last. But constant responsibility without support can lead to real stress and burnout.

Caring for a parent. Raising a child. Holding everything together in between.

For many, this isn’t temporary-it’s everyday life.

Supporting two generations comes with emotional weight that often goes unseen. And over time, that weight adds up.

Caregivers supporting two generations deserve support too → elliementalhealth.com/

You don’t have to be falling apart to need support. Most stress doesn’t look dramatic. It looks like:

- being tired all the time
- snapping quicker than usual
- overthinking everything at 2am

That’s still stress. And it still deserves care.

This Stress Awareness Month, we’re talking about the everyday kind. The kind people push through instead of getting support for. Therapy isn’t just for crisis. It’s for the life you’re living right now.

Hi, I’m JoLynn Hennerberg, LMFT, and I love working with families, couples, and individuals as they navigate life’s challenges and grow toward stronger, healthier relationships. I have experience working with diverse populations and a wide range of issues, including trauma, adoption and foster care, chronic illness and pain, grief and loss, and experiences of abuse or neglect.

My approach is grounded in creating a safe, trusting space where you can be honest about your experiences and feel supported as we work toward healing together. I draw from a variety of evidence-based modalities, including family systems therapy, EMDR, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), narrative therapy, and psychodynamic approaches. I work collaboratively with you to create a personalized plan that aligns with your goals and supports meaningful, lasting change.

I’m especially passionate about working with trauma survivors and couples, particularly those navigating the impact of trauma, and individuals connected to adoption. As someone who is adopted myself, I understand how powerful it can be to feel truly seen and understood in that experience, and I value creating that connection when it’s helpful in the therapeutic process.

Outside of the therapy room, I enjoy reading, refinishing furniture, and spending time back on my family’s farm. These activities keep me grounded and connected to what matters most.

I was drawn to this field because I believe that those who seek counseling are some of the bravest people in the world. It’s an incredible privilege to hear each person’s story and walk alongside them as they move toward growth and healing. If you’re ready to take that next step, I would be honored to support you on your journey.

Say hi to Alyssa! She’s passionate about creating a warm, non-judgmental space where clients can explore challenges, build on their strengths, and make meaningful changes in their lives and has immediate openings at our Overland Park clinic!

Alyssa grew up in the area with her three siblings. As a family, they loved competing in barbecue competitions, going to the movies, and hiking scenic trails together. She also enjoyed golfing with her dad-and still does whenever she can convince him to play! Outside of work, Alyssa spends time with her two dogs, Jett and Malakai. She also enjoys golfing, playing pickleball, watching movies, and relaxing at the lake.

Alyssa takes an integrative, client-centered approach to therapy. She draws from a variety of evidence-based practices, including Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Person-Centered Therapy, and Solution-Focused Brief Therapy (SFBT). She believes there’s no one-size-fits-all approach to healing and works to match each client with the methods that best support their individual needs.

She works with a variety of clients, including children (ages 6+), teens, young adults, and couples. Alyssa supports individuals navigating trauma, anxiety, depression, relationship challenges, grief, life transitions, and self-esteem building.

Seasonal transitions can increase anxiety - especially for people balancing work, caregiving, and shifting expectations.

That’s not weakness.
It’s nervous system response.

If this season feels overwhelming instead of energizing, you don’t have to navigate it alone. Starting therapy should feel manageable - not intimidating.

We had such a great time spending the afternoon with some of the teens at Tyler’s House!

One of our therapists led a grounding and mindfulness activity focused on being present, managing stress, and building healthy coping tools.

Tyler’s House KC is an incredible nonprofit that creates safe spaces for youth through creative arts programming and connection outside the school day. We love being able to partner with organizations doing such important work in our community.

Hi, I’m Kayla, a Licensed Master Social Worker (LMSW). I’m passionate about helping youth, adolescents, and adults navigate anxiety, overwhelm, relationship challenges, and life transitions. I understand how heavy it can feel to balance everything life asks of you, and I strive to create a warm, supportive space where you feel heard, understood, and not alone in the process.

My approach is collaborative and strengths-based, incorporating Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) to help build practical coping skills, strengthen confidence, and create meaningful, lasting change. I value walking alongside clients as they deepen their self-understanding, improve communication, and develop healthier patterns in their relationships. I especially enjoy supporting individuals who are navigating anxiety, identity shifts, relational challenges, or seasons of overwhelm, helping them move toward greater clarity and balance.

I was drawn to this field because I value connection and believe deeply in the power of being present with someone during a difficult season. There is something incredibly meaningful about supporting people in their growth and healing and being invited into that journey.

Outside of the therapy room, I enjoy spending time with my family and being present with my kids. I also love staying active, spending time outdoors, trying new coffee shops, and connecting with friends.

If you’re looking for a therapist who will meet you with warmth, encouragement, and practical tools for change, I would be honored to walk alongside you.
