Here’s your dose of encouragement and reminder that connection matters, doesn’t happen overnight, and it’s HARD to build.

Four years ago I said yes to attending a therapist retreat in Tennessee where I knew no one. On top of that, I got paired to room with a stranger which was completely out of my comfort zone. That hard yes has led to so many meaningful relationships and the creation of a Mastermind group that over time has become one of the greatest sources of encouragement and friendship. It didn’t happen overnight, but our commitment to consistency, transparency and vulnerability has created something special. So here’s my four year photo dump of our work retreats as an encouragement to hang in there. It is worth it! Plus I’m feeling extra grateful today 🤍

November 1 marked 3 years of New Day Counseling Co, and what a year it’s been! A lot of changes this year - a move, new office partnership, and adding a graduate intern (just to name a few)!

Above all, I’m still humbled and honored to do this work with people and my clients continue to be my why. I can’t wait to see what year 4 brings! 🎉🎉🎉

Starting on Wednesday September 18th, Dariah Van Pelt and I will be offering a Group Book Club, focusing on Brené Brown’s Dare to Lead. This group will be from 5-6pm each Wednesday, for a total of 10 weeks. Each session will be $50.

Staying curious and asking questions is at the core of this group. With engaging conversations to promote growth and authenticity, this group is therapeutic in nature but will feel like your neighborhood book club. It is our goal to create a safe and welcoming environment to discuss these themes of vulnerability, connection, and understanding achievement.

As the dust settles on this new year, I’m hearing similar stories from the clients I work with. For some, a new year brings new possibility, hope, and excitement - yay I’m so happy for those people, lean into that!

For others, it’s not the same story. So, if you are having mixed emotions about 2023 ending and 2024 beginning, maybe you’re not alone.

✨ “There’s a lot of pressure to make 2024 somehow better, more productive, and more pleasing than 2023, and what if I don’t know how to do that?”

✨ “I don’t want to leave my experiences, feelings, and grief behind in 2023. It doesn’t seem fair or honoring to those experiences.”

✨ “What if I hope for better in 2024, and better doesn’t happen?”

Maybe a new year doesn’t bring new resolutions, but a redefined focus. If you or someone you love needs support on finding out what your focus is, we are here! Let’s not do this life thing alone!

Happy two years to New Day Counseling Co! 🎉

It seems like just yesterday I was dreaming up the impact I hoped to make on Kansas City. The concept of a sunrise and the hope and promise of newness each day has always spoken to me. Being near water during sunrises and sunsets nourishes my soul and felt like a beautiful way to celebrate 2 full years of being in business.
