Every patient’s journey is unique, and we’re here every step of the way. From initial assessment through medical rehabilitation and beyond, our interdisciplinary teams work together to provide personalized care that supports independence and a better quality of life.

“Over 80% of our patients go home after inpatient rehab, but the rehab process certainly doesn’t stop when you leave the door,” sister hospital Milwaukee Rehabilitation Hospital Medical Director Dr. Ricardo Knight, MBA, says. “A lot of rehab is done at home, especially if leaving the home is difficult or burdensome. After home rehab, many patients continue with outpatient therapy. This can include specialized outpatient therapy, such as neuro or brain injury therapy.”

We’re proud to offer a culture that supports growth, continuous training, and meaningful opportunities to make a difference. One of our team members, Payton Fergus, CNA, is always quick to answer call lights and step in for therapy when techs are unavailable. Her willingness to help, no matter how busy the floor, makes a meaningful difference for both patients and the team.

Choosing the right level of care when rehabilitation is critical. Many patients benefit most from acute inpatient medical rehabilitation, where the care team has PT, OT, Speech Language Pathologists, rehab trained nurses onsite, AND includes three hours of therapy a day.

“A skilled nursing facility that provides rehab care typically has therapists, but there is usually less therapy time,” Milwaukee Rehabilitation Hospital (another Nobis-managed hospital) Medical Director Dr. Ricardo Knight, MBA, explains. “The team may not meet together to coordinate care, and often there isn’t a rehab doctor on staff. An inpatient hospital is very different. It’s a highly coordinated, team-based environment.”

We greatly value our pharmacists as clinical partners who provide expert guidance on medications and medication safety for our patients. In fact, it has been estimated that pharmacists practicing patient-centered care can increase the number of patients who receive optimal outcomes by 41% and reduce the cost of drug-related illness by almost 60%. Additionally, pharmacists involved in the discharge process, as they are at Johnson County Rehabilitation Hospital, have shown up to a 52% reduction in hospital readmissions.

Reflecting on 2025, we served our communities with the highest quality of care, achieving an 82% Return to Community, ranking above the national average, and achieving the highest rehabilitation outcomes. CIHQ accredited our hospital as a Center of Excellence in Stroke Care and Rehabilitation Services. We launched the DAISY Award program in May, which recognizes nurses for outstanding care, and we had the privilege to celebrate two of our nurses who received the DAISY Award. We recognized many of our team members for their accomplishments in their specific clinical and professional goals.
