Today is Children’s Mental Health Awareness Day 05/07/2026

Children’s mental health matters every single day. 1 in 5 children experience a mental health condition, yet many do not receive the support they need. Early awareness, open conversations, and access to care can make a lifelong difference.

Let’s work together to:
💚 Break the stigma around mental health
💚 Encourage open, judgment-free conversations
💚 Support children in expressing their feelings
💚 Advocate for accessible mental health resources

Every child deserves to feel seen, heard, and supported.

A high percentage of new parents experience shifts in their mental health after bringing home a baby. It is common occurrence but often not openly discussed.
This post breaks down something mothers may experience but don’t always understand. Take a moment to read through, and share it with someone who might need it. Support starts with awareness. Maternal mental health matters.

This week is Maternal Mental Health Awareness Week and your reminder that no one is immune.

Perinatal mood and anxiety disorders can impact any women, no matter her background, age, or income. Symptoms may show up during pregnancy or anytime in the first year after childbirth.

We need to shift how we think and talk about maternal mental health. Too often, women in crisis are misunderstood instead of supported. By raising awareness, we can help prevent tragedies and advocate for compassionate, science-based care instead of judgment.

Check in on the moms in your life. Ask how they are really doing and listen without judgment. Encourage them to seek help when they need it. Together, we can break the stigma and make sure no mom feels alone.

The 2026 World Autism Awareness Month theme is "Autism and Humanity – Every Life Has Value." The theme focuses on affirming the dignity, strengths, and inherent worth of all autistic individuals while advocating for inclusion in all areas of life. This month encourages us to move beyond awareness into acceptance. It reminds us that true inclusion begins when we not only recognize differences, but actively create spaces where every person is respected, supported, and able to thrive.

April is Alcohol Awareness Month. It's that time to educate, support, and start important conversations.

Underage drinking remains a serious concern, with early alcohol use increasing the risk of long-term health issues, addiction, and impaired brain development. Teens who drink are also more likely to experience academic challenges, risky behaviors, and mental health struggles.

Did you know?
• The brain continues developing into the mid-20s, making it more vulnerable to alcohol
• Early alcohol use is linked to a higher risk of alcohol use disorder later in life
• Open conversations with trusted adults can significantly reduce underage drinking

At Kansas City Psychiatric Group, we believe prevention starts with awareness, education, and support. If you’re a parent, caregiver, or teen, know that you’re not alone; we are here to help guide healthy choices and provide compassionate care.

Let’s work together to build a safer, healthier future.

World Bipolar Day – March 30

World Bipolar Day is observed each year on March 30th—chosen to honor the birthday of Vincent van Gogh, who is widely believed to have experienced bipolar disorder. His life and work remind us of the importance of understanding mental health with compassion and without judgment.

Bipolar disorder is more than mood swings—it’s a complex mental health condition that affects millions worldwide.
🔹 It involves episodes of depression and mania or hypomania
🔹 It impacts energy, sleep, decision-making, and daily functioning
🔹 With proper treatment and support, individuals can live full, meaningful lives

Today is about breaking the stigma, raising awareness, and supporting those living with bipolar disorder. Let’s replace misunderstanding with education and empathy.

💚 You are not alone.
💚 Help is available.
💚 Recovery is possible.
