Connect the Dots Pediatric Therapy only accepts private pay options, but that is actually a GREAT thing, for us and our clients! 👏🏻🎉

💫 Private pay options create flexibility and allows us to create one-on-one treatment plans. We can tailor therapy to your child's unique strengths and needs.

💫 No doctor referral or prior authorizations needed. Frequency and length of therapy sessions are not dictated by insurance requirements. Insurance companies often dictate the number and duration of services and occasionally do not cover speech services at all.

💫Better family involvement. We believe in a collaborative approach where the goals and strategies are closely aligned with family preferences and each child’s unique needs.

Connect the Dots Pediatric Therapy is able to accept payment through HSA and FSA accounts. We are able to provide the necessary documentation needed for HSA and FSA coverage.

Still want your insurance to pay for therapy? We've got you covered!

Connect the Dots Pediatric Therapy can provide what is known as a Superbill which would allow a client to seek reimbursement of services through insurance benefits. The client and/or family would be required to verify with their insurance company if this is an option.

Have questions about insurance? Give us a call today and we'll answer any questions you have! Don't let insurance stand in the way of getting the help your child needs. We're here to help!

Please help us welcome Kelsie and Emma to the CTD team! We are SO excited they are joining to continue to help serve families in the Kansas City area! Our families are so lucky to have them! ❤️

Kelsie believes that creating welcoming environments where children can be themselves creates opportunities for them to make progress towards their long-term goals. She enjoys working with families to help them in meeting their children’s needs.

Emma’s favorite aspect of my profession is the depth of our scope of practice. While she feels comfortable treating speech sound disorders, late talkers, and working with Augmentative and Alternative Communication, she also enjoys taking on clients who have skill sets that lead her to learn about a new area in our field. When she works with families, she wants the child and parents to feel understood, accepted, and feel that they are an equal part of the treatment team.

They can't wait to meet you! 🎉😊

has been voted by YOU as one of Kansas City’s Favorites Speech Therapy providers! I started Connect the Dots Pediatric Therapy just two years ago as a way to provide exceptional speech therapy in a child’s home, daycare, or school environment. To be nominated for this award is such an honor. I want to take this opportunity to show our immense gratitude to all of the people that made this possible. We feel so blessed to work with the most amazing children and their families! I can’t wait to continue to grow Connect the Dots and reach even more families!

⬇️⬇️⬇️⬇️ What Mrs Speechie P said! Let’s say it louder for people in the back! 🗣📢. If you suspect or feel that your child is struggling or falling behind compared to his/her peers, please: Do. Not. Wait. Early intervention is 🔑 in helping children gain new skills in order to set them up for future success!

One of my favorite things to share!

We use Early Intervention to set our children up for success. To give them the support they need when they need it. The answer should NEVER be to let them struggle and become frustrated until they are so far behind that we cannot avoid it anymore.

Intervention is not bad. It’s not wrong. It doesn’t mean something is “wrong” with a child, and it shouldn’t be taboo, something to hide, or something to avoid all together.

My son had had so much success in early intervention, which he had had on and off since he was 7 months old. Not only has it helped him with his academics, but it’s helped build his confidence and improved his quality of life (which for him right now is his play skills and ability to be as independent as possible).

So if you are on the fence about getting an evaluation or taking advantage of support in any area, please DO IT! You won’t regret getting your child support, but you may regret not giving them needed support!

“When should I consider speech therapy for my child’s lisp?” 😝🗣

This is a question many parents wonder! 🤔💭

The answer: the sooner the better! A lisp is never considered “developmentally appropriate”. The longer a child demonstrates this speech sound error, the stronger of habit it becomes and the harder it can be to break! Based on each individual child’s willingness to cooperate and follow directions, intervention can start as early as three years of age for a lisp!

If you having any questions about your child’s speech sound development feel free to message or reach me via email or phone! We provide speech therapy services in-home, daycare, school, or virtually.

Give your child a REASON to communicate! What does this even mean?!

It means don’t always give your child something immediately when they want it or put everything they may want within reach!

The truth is, if your child never has any challenges or difficulties getting their needs met, they also don’t have many reasons to communicate with you.

You need to create these situations to encourage them to communicate!

Want some Ideas? Check this out👇🏻 You are going to want to save this one!

-Place their favorite toys or snack within view but out of reach.
* This means don’t put your child’s toy on the lowest shelf move it to the top! Or put that favorite snack on top of the fridge!

-Put their favorite toy/snack in a clear container like a Tupperware container or a plastic baggy that may be difficult to open.
*Hand them the bag or container, and WAIT! Once they attempt to open and look to you or get frustrated, model/sign “HELP “ or “OPEN”.

--Offer piece by piece
* Don’t give your child everything all at once! They won’t have to ask you for anything! Break or offer a snack with small pieces and give them one piece at time, and WAIT. They will be enticed to continue to communicate for “MORE” of what they want. Toy options: puzzle/blocks.

-Use toys that are hard for the child to use on their own! We call these “People Toys”! They encourage your child to communicate because your child needs your help to make them work.

Examples:
Bubbles: Put your mouth up to the bubble wand, and wait for a response: model “blow!”. (words to model: help/open, pop, blow, smash, poke, stomp, bubble,)
Wind-up Toys/Squeeze toys: Activate toy model with action ex: “twist”/turn”, narrate as the toy moves “go, go”and when the toys stops, wait for your child to request to make it go again! (words to model: my turn, go/stop, turn, more, squeeze, out, in)
Balloons: hold the balloon up to your mouth and WAIT! Say: “BLOW!” - let the balloon fly around the room! Or blow up a small amount and PAUSE. Attempt to get your little one to request for “more” or “Blow” to continue making the balloon bigger. (Words to model: balloon, blow, pop, fly, more).
