Every person deserves mental health care, and Pride Month is a welcome reminder that we should all have the same access to care and community acceptance, regardless of gender, sexuality, race, or identity.

A nationwide survey by The Trevor Project found that half of + young people (ages 13 to 24) who wanted mental health care in that past year were not able to access it, highlighting the need for greater access to care and representation for people who are willing to seek out mental health services. We wanted share these statistics to help raise awareness of inequities this Pride Month, as well as affirm the lived experiences of all people in the LGBTQ+ community.

Today we recognize and celebrate

The holiday commemorates the end of slavery in the United States and the day of June 19, 1865, when the enslaved African Americans of Galveston, Texas finally learned about their freedom under the Emancipation Proclamation, two and a half years after the proclamation had been issued.
