Focus Friday: The ADHD Justice Chip

How to Work With It (Not Against It)

Welcome back to another Focus Friday, Amplify Wellness Community!

If you’ve ever found yourself absolutely spinning out over something that seems “small” to others but feels like a deep and urgent moral wrong to you, you might be familiar with the ADHD justice chip.

You might not find this in a diagnostic manual (yet), but many ADHDers report this highly attuned, nearly visceral sensitivity to fairness, injustice, hypocrisy, or unequal treatment. That hyperawareness, sometimes described as “righteous rage,” often stems from a mix of lived experience, executive functioning differences, and emotional intensity.

As someone with ADHD and a Libra rising (hi, that’s me 👋🏼), I sometimes joke that I’m constitutionally wired to spiral when things feel unjust. As a deeply novice astrology learner, I’ve found Libra placements can bring a desire for harmony, equity, and balance.

But when paired with ADHD? Woof.

That deep yearning for fairness can become an internal siren that goes off at full blast. Whether it’s a friend who ghosts us, a team member who doesn’t pull their weight, or an unfair policy at work, it can make collaboration difficult. It can make existing in groups hard. It can make asking for support feel unsafe. It can make letting things go feel nearly impossible.

In this week’s blog, I dive into:
How to work with it, not against it
What it might look like
The Hard Part
How to Co-exist

Focus Friday: Mental Load, Asking for Help, and Sitting with the Suck

Welcome back to another Focus Friday, Amplify Wellness Community!

🧠 Ever feel like your brain has 37 tabs open—and none of them are loading properly?

That, friend, is mental load.

It’s the invisible to-do list we carry around all day. Not just the tasks, but the tracking of those tasks. The emotional bandwidth of remembering, coordinating, managing, predicting, rescheduling, and recovering. Mental load isn’t just doing the thing—it’s being the one who keeps everyone else doing their things, too.

And here’s what makes it extra exhausting: you can’t always point to it. You just feel heavy, irritable, snappy, or stuck. You wonder, “Why am I so tired? I didn’t even do that much.” But your brain? It’s been running a marathon in the background all day.

In this week’s blog, I discuss:

This past week, I found myself feeling a little pang of disappointment that I wasn’t able to attend the Women’s Conference in Chicago.

Last year, getting to return to West Lafayette—a place that has always felt like home and a source of recharge—was deeply meaningful. I attended as both a participant and a speaker, and the experience was nothing short of transformative. I left inspired not just by the incredible women I met, but also by the message I was able to share.

This year, I spent my 40th birthday in New Orleans, celebrating life, partnership, and community with my spouse and his coworkers. It was joyful in its own right, but part of me was still thinking about all the learning, laughing, and legacy-building happening up in Illinois.

I’m already looking forward to the 2026 Purdue Women’s Conference and am manifesting another speaking opportunity—along with another charm for my bracelet 💛🚂🖤

I’ve felt a pull since last year’s conference to speak more often and in more spaces about the intersection of business and mental health—specifically the pain points that keep corporations from meaningfully supporting their people. If your company or organization is seeking intentional ways to approach employee wellness, especially around focus, burnout, and mental clarity, let’s connect!

But mostly, thank you and for continuing to create spaces where Boilermaker women can gather, grow, and be great together.

And many continued thanks to my family from down south + my Boiler Bestie, , for making the trip in from San Diego to support and spend time with me!
