Motiva vs. Traditional Implants — here’s what makes them different 👇

The biggest difference is the surface. Traditional smooth implants feel like glass. Motiva’s SmoothSilk surface has a micro-texture under 10 microns that you can actually feel in your hand, and that difference changes how your body responds to the implant.

Two of the biggest risks with any breast implant are capsular contracture (scar tissue hardening) and breast implant illness/ALCL, both driven by inflammation. The cells responsible are macrophages and myofibroblasts. Science is now showing us that a textured surface under 10 microns is actually less inflammatory than a smooth implant and helps control both of those cell types.

A recent study published in Nature confirmed that the SmoothSilk shell has the least inflammatory response of any implant surface tested.

Before & After | Pre-Pectoral Breast Augmentation with Ergonomix

We placed these implants above the muscle using Motiva Ergonomix, which are specifically designed to respond to gravity and movement the same way natural breast tissue does. This is what gives you that soft, lived-in result rather than the round, high, implant-y look.

✅ Natural movement and feel that mimics real breast tissue
✅ No muscle cutting means significantly less pain and downtime
✅ Scarring sits at the fold and fades well over time
✅ Seamless chest wall integration with no hard edges

We’ll be posting another before and after soon using Motiva Round implants in the same pre-pectoral plane. The technique is the same but the shape outcome is different, and which one is right really depends on your starting anatomy and what you’re looking to achieve.
