Did you know that your menstrual cycle has a direct effect on your emotions and energy levels? It’s all about hormones and how they fluctuate throughout your cycle. In the first phase of your cycle, days 1-7, when menstruation occurs, you might feel lower energy levels and emotional vulnerability due to a drop in estrogen and progesterone. This can lead to feelings of irritability or sadness, and physical symptoms like bloating or cramping.
As you move into the follicular phase (days 8-14), estrogen levels begin to rise, helping you feel more energized and confident. This is when you may notice a spike in your libido and better mood stability. The next phase, ovulation (days 15-21), brings the highest levels of estrogen and progesterone, leading to increased energy, and many women feel their best during this time. Finally, as you enter the luteal phase (days 22-28), progesterone peaks, which can lead to PMS symptoms like mood swings, fatigue, and cravings.
