🛡️ Friday Fact Check: Vaccines & Autism

Let’s set the record straight:
Vaccines do NOT cause autism.

That myth started with a fraudulent study that’s been fully debunked and retracted. But the damage lingers—especially for families trying to make informed decisions.

Here’s what we do know:
✅ Vaccines are among the safest, most effective tools in public health.
✅ They protect vulnerable kids and communities.
✅ They do NOT increase autism risk.

Let’s replace fear with facts, and stigma with science. Every child deserves protection—and every parent deserves the truth.

Books, puzzles, LEGOs, games, and electronics are especially encouraged.

Let’s make the season a little brighter together! 💙

🌿 Struggling with your mental health? You’re not alone. You don’t have to navigate it alone either.

If you're feeling overwhelmed, anxious, or just not like yourself, please call us.

If you see your child or teen struggling, call.

Our clinical social worker is here to help you take the first step toward healing with compassionate evaluation and our team can offer treatment options tailored to your needs.

📞 Let’s talk. Your mental health matters. Support is just a phone call away.

Did you know? 82% of Gen Z (13–25-year-olds) say they're not likely to use a prescription drug without a prescription in the future. But when overwhelmed by school, athletics, or the stress of life, some may turn to pills to try to find relief.

It’s okay to need medication to help with mental health challenges, but seeking help from a healthcare provider is the only safe way to medicate. Pills from any other source are likely fake. They might look like real medications, such as Adderall, Xanax, or Percocet, but they almost always contain fentanyl.

Remember, the only pill you can trust is one prescribed to you by a medical professional, filled by a licensed pharmacy, and taken as directed.

If you or someone you know is struggling with mental health or substance use, help is available. Calling 988 will connect you with a real person ready to help you find local resources and treatment options.

> I was invited to a performance of It’s a Bird, It’s a Plane, It’s Superman tonight at Olathe South High School by one of my patients (okay… his super proud mom 😉). Not only was I awed by his performance, but I also spotted several of my other patients in the cast and crew — you were all amazing!

If you were in the show, drop a comment — I loved seeing you all shine on stage (and behind the scenes)!

Thank you, TJ (and parents), for the invite, and thanks to all of my patients who let me be a small part of your lives. I love seeing you out in the real world doing incredible things. So proud of each of you! 💙🦸‍♂️

👶🫁 Let’s talk about RSV protection for infants!

You may have heard about Beyfortus (Nirsevimab) and clesrovimab (Enflonsia). They are both monoclonal antibodies that prevent severe RSV (respiratory syncytial virus) disease. Beyfortus or Enflonsia can be used in infants up to 8 months, and Beyfortus can be used in older high-risk infants.

RSV is a common virus that can cause serious lung infections in young infants, especially those under 6 months and older infants and toddlers with high-risk conditions.

👉 Here’s the key difference between vaccines and monoclonal antibodies:
➡ Vaccines work by training the immune system to make its own antibodies over time.
➡ Beyfortus and Enflonsia are monoclonal antibodies. That means they give your baby ready-made antibodies right away, offering immediate protection during RSV season. We are offering Beyfortus to infants who meet criteria for RSV protection.

Think of it like giving your baby borrowed immunity until they’re old enough to build their own defenses. 💪✨

Ask your pediatrician if Beyfortus is right for your baby this RSV season!
