Red Light Therapy and Infrared Sauna are often grouped together in the wellness world, but they work in completely different ways.
Red Light Therapy uses specific wavelengths of red and near-infrared light that pe*****te the skin and interact with the mitochondria inside your cells. Mitochondria are responsible for producing cellular energy, and when stimulated by these wavelengths, they may support processes related to skin health, tissue repair, and inflammation regulation.
Infrared sauna works through an entirely different mechanism. Instead of light stimulating cells, infrared heat warms the body directly and raises core temperature. This heat exposure promotes sweating, circulation, and cardiovascular stimulation while helping muscles relax and recover.
In simple terms, red light therapy is a cellular light therapy, while infrared sauna is a deep penetrating heat therapy.
Because they operate through different pathways, many people choose to use both as part of a broader recovery routine. Red light therapy focuses more on cellular energy and skin health, while infrared sauna supports circulation, detoxification through sweat, and overall relaxation.
When used consistently, these tools can complement each other and support the body’s natural recovery processes.
At Chill. Cold Plunge // Sauna Studio, we focus on creating spaces where recovery becomes part of your routine—not an afterthought.
