Read that again: Healing is possible with the right tools (and support) 🫶🏻

I love that I get to be on so many healing journeys. I truly have the best job and the best patients! 💛

Overnight oats are a classic around here for so many reasons 🙌🏻

✅ Three breakfasts (and clean up) done in less than 10 minutes
✅ Great “grab-and-go” option for busy mornings
✅ Keeps you full until lunch
✅ High in fiber for gut health and stabilizing blood sugar
✅ Full of phytonutrients and antioxidants for overall health and inflammation

Having this waiting for me in the fridge is one way to make my mornings less stressful, ensure I’m taking care of “me,” and starting my day off on the best note possible.

What are your favorite high protein, quick breakfast options? Share in the comments! 🙌🏻

TLDR: Get outside every day, even on a cloudy day! ☀️⛅️

In fact, this is a very common “prescription” you might get from me, as your functional medicine provider.

Why ❓ The sun provides different wavelengths of light, which are still very present (and beneficial) on cloudy days. Research shows a correlation between lower levels of systemic inflammation, less risk of heart disease and stroke, less metabolic dysfunction, less rates of anxiety and depression, improved eye/heart/brain/skin health, and much more, by getting daily exposure to these wavelengths of light.

How much do you need to reap the benefits? My recommendation is 15-20 minutes per day (minimum).

Caution: May result in improved health outcomes so don’t use sparingly 🤪

💫 Feeling tired, moody, or like your body is “off”? Your hormones might be trying to tell you something! Hormonal imbalances can show up as fatigue, brain fog, cravings, irregular cycles, trouble losing weight, and more.

The good news? You can support your hormones naturally:
🌙 Get enough sleep – Your body repairs and balances hormones while you rest.
🥦 Eat more veggies – Fiber and nutrients help your liver process and eliminate excess hormones.
🧘‍♀️ Manage stress – Chronic stress throws cortisol and other hormones out of whack.
🍳 Prioritize protein – Amino acids help your body make and regulate hormones efficiently.
🚫 Reduce exposure to endocrine disruptors – Avoid plastics (prioritize stainless steel and glass), artificial fragrances, and personal care products that contain phalates and parabens. The app is a great tool to help you choose better options.

Small, consistent changes can make a difference in how you feel day-to-day. 💫

Feeling burned out, tired, overwhelmed, or low motivation?

Guess what ❓ Me too! We’re all human and none of us are immune to these feelings from time-to-time.

Here’s the thing though. You can’t stay there for too long, or it will start to feel heavier, more burdensome, or harder to snap out of.

Here’s a glimpse into the pep-talk I gave myself. Maybe you resonate and need to hear these things too.

My biggest advice: Go back to the basics.

Exercise.
Hydrate.
Nature.
Supplements.
A healthy meal.
Practicing gratitude.
Taking time for yourself.

One day of these changes isn’t going to be a magical cure, BUT it does help remind myself of the foundational things I need to CONSISTENTLY focus on so I can feel my best.

I’m great at suggesting these things to my wonderful patients, but not so great at recognizing when I need them myself. 🥴

One day at a time, friends. 💪🏻

What if I told you the answer to clear skin, better digestion, improved metabolic health, less bloating, and more energy isn’t in a magical supplement but in simple ingredients you buy at the grocery store?

Enter 👉🏻 Green “juice!” ✨💚 It really is the simple, everyday choices that add up and make the most difference.

I love to play around with the recipe and use different veggies! Here’s what I put in this one:

- 1 green apple 🍏
- 1 bunch of chard 🥬
- 5 carrots (peeled) 🥕
- 1 bunch of cilantro 🌿
- Juice of 1 lemon 🍋
- Water to desired consistency

Other favorite ingredients include romaine, spinach, fresh ginger, raw beets, and parsley. You seriously can’t go wrong!

A few tips:
- No matter which veggies you use, I recommend to always use lemon juice for flavor.
- I love to make a big batch so I have enough for 3-4 days.
- You can strain it if you want (it’s the only way my husband can drink it lol), but by NOT straining it, you retain fiber and micronutrients (powerhouses 💪🏻). There’s also slower nutrient oxidation (AKA the good stuff doesn’t break down as quickly).

So, there ya have it. Green “juice” FTW 🙌🏻 Let me know if you try it!

Hello, friends! I took a few weeks hiatus but I’m back! 👋🏻

What does it mean to “create a life that feels good from the inside out?” For me, it’s about creating a life that where your INTERNAL experience (joy, peace, clarity, purpose, etc.) takes priority over your EXTERNAL experience 💯

Here’s what it can look like in practice 👉🏻

💛 Honoring your feelings instead of suppressing them to meet others’ expectations.
💛 You define success in your own terms - not just money, status, or image, but fulfillment, contribution, and joy.
💛 You nurture your mental health, energy, and boundaries, even if it means disappointing others.
💛 You build authentic, genuine, and loving relationships.
💛 You allow room for rest, play, creativity, and quiet.
💛 You regularly check-in with yourself about these things and make adjustments as needed.

Do you have anything to add to my list? Let me know below 🙌🏻

These 4 points are the foundation of a healthy gut microbiome, which is an essential component for whole body health!

Think:
- Digestion and nutrient absorption
- Immune function
- Gut-brain axis
- Inflammation regulation
- Metabolic health
- Hormonal balance
- Detoxification
….and so much more!

Any imbalance in the gut microbiome = dysbiosis. This can lead to what’s called “leaky gut,” which is a mainstay of my treatment focus as a functional medicine nurse practitioner.

Oftentimes, when we heal dysbiosis, we can achieve improvement in chronic diseases, hormonal imbalances, autoimmune disorders, etc.

Be on the lookout for an upcoming post explaining what types of things/behaviors/habits contribute to dysbiosis. It’s too much to fit into one post!

This is not medical advice 😌

Living a healthy lifestyle doesn’t have to be “all or nothing,” and some days will be better than others because…life!

And that’s OK. Give yourself grace and keep putting one foot in front of the other. It all counts! ☺️

Running here, running there. Full schedules. Late nights and early mornings. Productivity. Stretched to the max. Trying to do it all. Like it’s a badge of honor.

We often put caring for ourselves last on the list of “to-dos.”

I’m here to tell you: Putting yourself higher on the list is not selfish. It’s absolutely necessary for our health.

Our nervous system cannot function optimally when it’s in a state of fight-or-flight all the time.

Start with something small each day and watch the dividends multiply.

A healthy meal.
A walk outside.
Journaling.
Reading a chapter of your favorite book.
Sitting in the sun.

It’s ok to put yourself on the list. 🫶🏻🤍

You’re not alone if you’re feeling like the “protein” conversation is overhyped. It seems like we’re being told to eat more protein all.the.time. 🫨

Here’s my take on the topic 👉🏻 Nutrition, like everything, should be individualized since there are multiple factors that affect your ideal protein intake. Protein is SO important for multiple bodily functions/processes, but it’s not one-size-fits all!

Start with calculating your ideal protein intake for your age/activity level. Tune into your body and evaluate your symptoms. Then, trial eating more protein in your diet and see how you feel. Consider keeping a log because you can easily refer back to it for objective data.

I’m available if you need extra support or a more individualized plan to meet your health goals 💪🏻

As always, this is purely for educational purposes. Make sure to discuss your specific plan with the healthcare provider overseeing your care. 🫶🏻
