RPM is in the news, but what exactly is remote patient monitoring?
1. RPM involves monitoring biometrics using peripheral devices without face-to-face contact with a patient.
2. The HIPAA-compliant biometric data is transmitted to a portal for clinical decision-making.
3. The extractable data provides opportunities for improved quality of care by identifying patients in need of further assessment and/or treatment.

𝗥𝗲𝗺𝗼𝘁𝗲 𝗽𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗲𝗻𝘁 𝗺𝗼𝗻𝗶𝘁𝗼𝗿𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗶𝗺𝗽𝗿𝗼𝘃𝗲𝘀 𝗵𝗲𝗮𝗹𝘁𝗵 𝗲𝗾𝘂𝗶𝘁𝘆. Patients without Wi-Fi or a smartphone can transmit data to their providers at significantly less cost than broadband service or monthly phone payments by using a cellular hub. The hub collects data directly from the patient’s biometric devices without using Wi-Fi and no smartphone app is required; it comes with a low-cost data plan. The hub works with Bluetooth devices which are more affordable than their cellular counterparts.

𝗥𝗲𝗺𝗼𝘁𝗲 𝗣𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗲𝗻𝘁 𝗠𝗼𝗻𝗶𝘁𝗼𝗿𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗯𝗲𝗰𝗼𝗺𝗲𝘀 𝘁𝗿𝘂𝗹𝘆 𝗽𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗲𝗻𝘁-𝗳𝗿𝗶𝗲𝗻𝗱𝗹𝘆 𝗲𝗮𝘀𝘆 𝘄𝗶𝘁𝗵 𝗮 𝗰𝗲𝗹𝗹𝘂𝗹𝗮𝗿 𝗵𝘂𝗯. Patients plug in the hub, which gathers and transmits data from devices preconnected to the hub, and they’re good to go. Pairing the cellular hub with Bluetooth devices makes RPM more affordable.
