Behavior doesn’t happen randomly — it serves a purpose.

A Functional Behavior Assessment (FBA) helps identify the reason a behavior occurs so that effective strategies can be developed. During an FBA, clinicians:
• Gather information about the behavior
• Identify patterns and triggers
• Determine what the child may be trying to communicate or achieve
• Develop strategies that teach more effective skills

By understanding the function of behavior, we can focus on teaching new skills rather than simply reacting to behavior.
