BIG NEWS!

The cardiology team at Overland Park Regional Medical Center is proud to be the first in the nation to offer a new pulsed field ablation treatment for atrial fibrillation (AFib). The breakthrough procedure was performed by DJ Lakkireddy, MD, medical director of Kansas City Heart Rhythm Institute. Our team is now using the Volt™ PFA system from Abbott, an advanced technology designed to treat irregular heartbeats with greater precision and less risk to surrounding tissue.

The system’s all‑in‑one catheter allows doctors to diagnose, map, and treat AFib using a single device. It can also be used with either conscious sedation or general anesthesia, making this treatment accessible to more patients, including those who may not tolerate anesthesia well.
