►► Prairie Elder Homes: A comforting alternative to traditional institutional care. Passion and commitment is our homes’ foundations

Prairie Elder Homes are not corporation-owned or one of a hundred chains. Our homes are managed and run by Mandy and Michala, two women committed to continuous learning and seeking the most proven, best practices used to care for and engage people living with dementia. They hire skilled caregivers who share their passion for learning and attend training on a regular basis.

>> Prairie Elder Homes Offer Residential Memory Care Second to None

Prairie Elder Homes offer care that is second to none—a bold statement, but one you can believe. Here, we strive to fill our residents’ days with meaningful activities matched to their interests and functional level. Activities focus on creating positive feelings of accomplishment.

>> Residential Neighborhoods & only 6 to 8 residents for personal care

Our homes are located in residential neighborhoods, which help our residents adjust to a new setting because it’s much like their own homes. The setting is intimate with only six to eight residents, and we consider it their home. Through building trusting relationships with family, each of our residents is treated and cared for as an individual. We pay attention to and care about the details of your loved one’s history, preferred routines and lifestyle. At Prairie Elder Homes, their days and activities are too. One of the unique features you will find in a Prairie Elder Home is the >>Snoezelen Approach> Premium, personalized shouldn’t come only at a premium price

You want the best memory care for your loved one. And price shouldn’t be an obstacle. Everyone deserves dignity and loving care. That’s why Prairie Elder Homes are comparably priced to “institution” facilities. Our all-inclusive monthly fees include:

PEC Friday Flash✨
It’s been a great week full of fantastic food, lots of live music, being outside everyday, helping in the garden, and enjoying lots of family and friend visits.♥️ The staff in the houses did an amazing job with engagement this week; retro records at east, apple project at west, baking strawberry cake at lake house. Kurtis did a Picasso pumpkin project, painted Fall Landscapes, took many walks with residents, and the residents watered plants, helped get ready for the barn sale this Saturday, and helped pick the last of the crops in the garden and pumpkin patch.
🍉🥕🎃We played in and organized the jewelry boxes, hrloed Lisa make pumpkin douce bread for tge sale, and helped make dinners. Rebecca picked all the veggies she needed to make a sald for the residents at Farm West. Everyone at her house realky enjoyed it!🥗 We enjoyed live music with Richelle, we celebrated Ruth’s birthday at Farm East with happy meals and cake 🙂🎂, and we celebrated Rasheed (one of our maintenance guys) birthday.🌟 We loved the fun exercise classes with the staff, visiting the other farm houses, interacting with the farm animals, and enjoying ice cream on the patios.

PEC Friday Flash✨
Lots of visits, outside time, and engagement this week! The weather was so nice we were outside as much as possible. We sat on the front porches, back patios, and enjoyed walks around the farm☀️. We worked with the amazing therapist at Prairie Health KC, did activity kits, and craft time🧶🖍️🎨🫟.
We did button art, visited with family from out of town, and enjoyed visiting the Kansas Native plantings Field here on the farm in memory of our dear friend, Don Gallagher. We played BINGO, helped prepare delicious meals, and planted mums around the farm🌼. We ended the week enjoying popsicles on the porch, working with the BV CAPS CNA students, playing noodle ball and walking down Linda’s Lilac Lane🪻.

PEC & Mrs.Sherwood’s kindergarten class at Stilwell Elementary are preparing for another great year of partnering for the Grandparents Reading Program. Today the class had their annual dementia training. What a super sweet, smart group of kiddos! We can’t wait to get the PEC residents in the class to meet the students. ♥️

PEC Friday Flash✨
We started this beautiful week with apple cider donuts from Louisburg Cider Mill and we ended the week with cake. And you can be sure there were many sweets moments that filled our week. We designed and made art pieces to be auctioned off at our barn sale on Oct. 11th. We enjoyed lots of live music; jazz with Eric on the patios, music with Mike in the houses, piano music with Anna, music and entertainment with Richelle, and we squeezed in a dance party with Mike Ashley🎶. We enjoyed ice cream cones for National Cone Day🍦, farm west enjoyed Waffle Wednesday with Chef Kurtis🧇and we board played games🎲🎲. We celebrated Diane and Evelyn’s birthdays🎂🎂,
Took walks and spotted lots of beautiful blooms🌸, and enjoyed delicious meals. We loved working in the garden, picking sweet potatoes, and harvesting the carnival corn. We look forward to downing Fridays with the CAPS student. We love when they are here learning about dementia, brain health, and working towards ther CNA licenses. To see how excited they are to be with the residents, and to see our residents so happy when they are here, is truly amazing♥️.
