The One Emotion that Extends Your Life

Ronald Grisanti D.C., D.A.B.C.O., DACBN, MS, CFMP

Based on progressive research we find that what we think about and what we feel have far-ranging effects on our immune system.

One important part of our immune system includes the natural killer cell or NK cells. These are a type of lymphocyte and an important player in the war on invading bad microbes and mounting an immune attack to combat these bad microbes. NK cells are known to be protective against cancer. Some studies have documented that the less active your NK cells are the more rapid cancer progression and the more it spreads throughout the body.

And guess what?

These important NK cells actually respond to your mood.

The most important emotion to boost these NK cells is laughter.
🤣 🤣 🤣
When you are feeling good, optimistic and happy your NK cells multiply exponentially!

If you are known pessimist, there is still hope for you.

A study done at the University of California showed that actors who spent time performing depressing movie scenes had a decreased immune responsiveness. On the other hand actors who performed roles where they were uplifting, had an increased immune responsiveness. So the moral of the story is something called, Fake it till you make it. Yes, even if you don't feel happy, at least act like you do! Your body's immune system will reward you for it.

Here is a good punch list to improve your mood and of course boost your NK cells: These include: watching funny movies, making music or listening to uplifting music, coloring in books, walking in the woods, going to a comedy show, spending time with good uplifting friends to something as simple as taking a soaking bath with relaxing herbs.

“YOU ARE DEHYDRATED!!!”

Those were the life-changing words I heard one summer day in Chicago when I nearly passed out at a street fair.

“But I drink fluids. I should be fine. There’s no reason for being dehydrated!!!” I thought as I sat there feeling frustrated & embarrassed.

That day they had to drag me out of the street as everyone was watching. I nearly had to go to the ER instead of being able to hang out with my friends. It took over an hour to recover. I felt bad and stressed out because I was ruining everyone’s day.

I felt ashamed to tell them why I was so ill when I looked like I should be healthy. I was only 20 years old. My friends didn’t know I had trouble balancing my blood sugar, and I was too embarrassed to tell them.

I wanted to hide away but my friends began the bombardment of questions. No, it’s not contagious. No, I didn’t skip breakfast. On and on it went.

I did eat breakfast. I thought I planned my “food day” well. I felt prepared and fearless BUT I didn’t know this one thing.

High blood sugar creates dehydration. My brain didn’t get enough water. My heart didn’t get enough water. My muscles didn’t get enough water. I was dehydrated!!!

That fateful day at the street fair changed my life. I was afraid. I had no control over what my body was doing to me. I controlled all other parts of my life. What was happening to me felt scary.

I tried to make changes. I ate salads. I walked all over the city as a commuter to and from work. I tried to go to the gym a few times a week.

But I felt frustrated that I couldn’t change what was happening to me. I felt a mixture of guilt, shame, and anger at myself for being unable to control my lack of control and my blood sugar.

My friends didn’t have this problem. They never had to measure and restrict. They never talked about “trouble” with food and blood sugar and lack of control. I felt like I was the only one having this problem. Why did everyone else have it so easy??

I was driven to find out! I HAD TO HAVE THE ANSWER! It became my mission to find out for myself. And I knew that others must need this answer too.

That one street fair event changed everything for me. NOW my mission is to share what I have learned so no one with high blood sugar ever has to worry about passing out unexpectedly.

Here’s to proper hydration & balanced blood sugar.

OXYGENATE YOUR ORGANS SAFELY
This study showed that the blood flow in human participants effectively doubled after exposure to mild hyperbaric oxygen. It is widely known that endurance exercises cause a steady increase in blood flow. However, the increase in blood flow following endurance exercise is induced mostly in active skeletal muscles but not in internal organs.

In addition, because of the increased atmospheric pressure, exposure to mild hyperbaric oxygen has an advantage in that it can increase the amount of dissolved oxygen in plasma, which does not occur with endurance exercises.

This study also found that the resting energy expenditure in participants increased by 10.2% after exposure to mild hyperbaric oxygen.

HYPERBARIC OXYGEN AND HEALING DIABETES
Diabetes affects more than 12 million people and is the seventh leading cause of death in the U.S. With diabetes primarily affecting the small blood vessels, hyperbaric oxygen therapy (HBOT) has been demonstrated to stimulate angiogenesis compromised blood flow, and prevent oxygen failure.

Research has shown that HBOT can lower blood sugar levels by increasing cellular sensitivity to insulin and skeletal muscle reception of glucose. Furthermore, recent reports have provided evidence towards linking HBOT to regenerating pancreatic islets of Langerhans, thus potentially producing more insulin.

HBOT is often beneficial in treating osteomyelitis and cellulitis, in addition to preventing systemic toxicity and permanent disability. With chronic diabetes, impaired circulation reduces wound healing capability and promotes ulcerations. HBOT increases the amount of oxygen available to ulcerated areas, leading to increased fibroblast activation.

Studies have demonstrated the benefits of HBOT for diabetes with the following:
Improves Blood Chemistry Profile
• Fasting Blood Sugar
• Hemoglobin HbA1C
• Lipid Profiles
Advance Glycemic Control
• Increases Pancreatic Islets of Langerhans
• Improves Insulin Sensitivity
• Increases Skeletal Muscle Reception of Glucose
Decreases Cardiovascular Risk
• Promotes Long-Term Blood Pressure Control
• Attenuates Metabolic Syndrome
• Reduces Risk of Sudden Heart Attack Due to Ventricular Arrhythmias
Stimulates Angiogenesis & Reduces Inflammation
• Improves Brain Function & Reduces the Risk of Stroke
• Enhances Heart Function & Reduces Risk of Heart Attack
• Reduces Risk of Diabetic Retinopathy
• Decreases Risk of Diabetic Neuropathy
• Minimizes Risk of Diabetic Nephropathy
• Combats Cellulitis
Enhances Internal/External Healing
• Proliferates Epithelialization
• Promotes Closure of Non-Healing Wounds
• Decreases Risk of Infection
• Ameliorates Ulcerations
• Reduces Risk of Amputation
• Remediates Osteomyelitis
