Why are you still tired… even after 8 hours of sleep? 😴

It’s not just about *how long* you sleep — it’s about how your **hormones, stress levels, and metabolism** are working *with* (or against) you.

Here’s what could be going on:
✨ Cortisol spikes at night → wired but exhausted
✨ Blood sugar crashes → restless sleep + early wakeups
✨ Hormonal imbalances → low energy + stubborn weight

And yes — your sleep, hormones, and weight are all deeply connected.

🌙 Try this simple night routine to support better sleep:
✔️ Dim lights 1–2 hours before bed
✔️ Put your phone away (or use night mode)
✔️ Eat a balanced dinner (protein + healthy fats)
✔️ Keep a consistent bedtime
✔️ Try a calming ritual (stretching, reading, breathwork)

To get to the root cause, we use salivary cortisol testing (four samples in one day) to map your cortisol pattern. This shows how your adrenal system is functioning and where imbalances may be. From there, we develop targeted treatments to help restore your energy.

🌸 As we transition from spring → summer, your body naturally shifts its rhythm. Longer days = more light exposure, which can *either* support your energy… or disrupt your sleep if your routine isn’t aligned.

If you’re feeling tired no matter what you do, your body might be asking for a deeper reset — not just more hours in bed.

“They can’t find anything wrong with me.”

After 22 years as a naturopathic doctor, she’s heard this countless times—and she understands it deeply. As a teenager, her own spinal injury was overlooked until one physician finally listened. That experience shaped the way she shows up for every patient today: with empathy, curiosity, and a commitment to truly hear their story.

A Kansas native, she began her medical journey at just 16 as a nurse’s aide, later earning her nursing degree from Wichita State and working in cardiac ICU, home health, and hospice care. A pivotal moment led her to naturopathic medicine, where she went on to earn her doctorate from Southwest College of Naturopathic Medicine.

She has served patients across Arizona, Alaska, and Montana, and is now back home in Kansas, continuing her work with a whole-person approach. She believes the best healing happens when patients feel seen, heard, and empowered—teaching them to become thoughtful observers of their body, mind, and spirit.

Her greatest teachers? Her patients.

When she’s not caring for others, she enjoys time outdoors (often fly fishing… and catching more twigs than fish), reading and watching movies.

✨ Areas of focus: thyroid & adrenal health, gut conditions, hormones, autoimmune disease, chronic fatigue, pain, and more.

Your skincare routine is clean… but have you checked your dental floss lately? 👀🦷

Many conventional flosses contain PTFE (aka Teflon) and other questionable ingredients that end up in your mouth every single day. Small swaps matter when it comes to lowering your toxic load ✨

Start reading the labels on the products you use daily — even the ones no one talks about. Your wellness routine should go beyond just supplements and skincare. 🤍

91 years ago, two doctors examined 7 women's ovaries, saw lumps and called them "cysts", and named a disease after them. They were wrong.

What we have called PCOS (Polycystic Ovarian Syndrome) is now named Polyendocrine Metabolic Ovarian Syndrome. The change comes as the medical establishment state the old name is misleading. The cysts (follicles) on the ovaries have always been a downstream symptom, not a defining cause (or even required feature).

PMOS affects ~1 in 8 women worldwide, and it is estimated 70% have never been diagnosed, of those who do, 30% wait more than 2 years and half see 3 or more doctors to get the diagnosis. Most women don't find out they have the disease until they try to get pregnant, but the symptoms have usually been there for 10 years.

The new name FINALLY captures what naturopathic doctors have been talking about for YEARS: a body-wide hormonal imbalance that influences the uterus, pancreas, heart, liver, digestion ovaries and more.

Two doctors, Stein and Leventhall, looked at the ovaries of 7 women and it has taken the establishment 91 years to correct the name. I hope the new name change will lead to better treatment, women being listened to and validated. The ovaries are never acting alone.

How KC Allergy Season Affects Your Health 🌿

If you live in Kansas City, you know allergy season isn’t just “a little sniffle.”

It can impact your whole body:

🤧 Sinus congestion & headaches
😴 Fatigue and brain fog
🌬️ Worsened asthma or breathing issues
🍽️ Digestive flare-ups
😣 Increased inflammation throughout the body

When your immune system is constantly reacting, it creates stress on your system—sometimes in ways you don’t even realize.

What can help:
✔️ Support your immune system with whole, nutrient-dense foods
✔️ Reduce inflammation triggers where possible
✔️ Keep your indoor air clean
✔️ Stay consistent with hydration
✔️ Get personalized support if symptoms linger

Your body doesn’t have to “just deal with it” every season.
