Cole's father, Bil, expressing interest in having him on to discuss the loss of his son as well as the legislative push to reform pharmacy benefit managers like Optum. We feel lucky to have history and support from Oviedo and surrounding communities.

There was a time that Oviedo had a doctor but no pharmacy. My grandfather John B. Jones Sr owned the general store (bottom) but it was not a drug store. My uncle Ben Jones took over the store and it morphed into the Oviedo Drug Store. Top picture is of him making a sale to Mae King. It was at this location of my grandfather’s store on Broadway until in the late 50’s when he built a new drug building on the SE corner of Central and Broadway. It had a lunch counter and AIR CONDITIONING! A rare commodity at the time. Since he was not a pharmacist he would take the prescriptions to Sanford to be filled. If the need was urgent he would deliver them to the home of those in need that evening. Otherwise they could be picked up the next day at the store. In the late 50’s he knew Oviedo needed a full time pharmacist so he sold the store to Roy Weisenbarger and Ross Nogel. Roy was a pharmacist Ross was not. They in turn sold the store to Jack Pieper in the mid 60’s and it moved next to Meat World in the new shopping center (Location of the current post office). That was the last Mom and pop individually owned drug store store in Oviedo. Now only the big chains. More on the lunch counters later.
