🌟 **Exciting News!** 🌟

I’m so excited to finally announce the opening of my new therapy office in Owasso! Are you feeling like you’re constantly trying to meet others’ expectations, leaving little room to explore your true self? Many of us have grown up conforming to what others expect, which can feel exhausting and unfulfilling. You may be struggling to balance your own needs with the demands of family, work, and society, feeling disconnected from who you truly are.

I specialize in helping individuals and families navigate these complexities—whether you're dealing with mood disorders, trauma, grief, or relationship issues. My goal isn’t just to help you survive, but to thrive by embracing your authentic self and living a life that feels fulfilling.

I’m now accepting new clients with *immediate* openings available. I am in-network with Health Choice, BCBS, Optum, Aetna, and United Health Care, and also offer cash pay and sliding scale pricing to ensure you receive the care you deserve.

Like you, I’ve navigated my own challenges, including loss and grief, and understand the profound pain of feeling misunderstood. While our journeys may differ, the emotions we experience connect us. My approach is rooted in empathy, and I’m here to support you on your journey toward healing and understanding.

🌱 Start your healing journey today! 🌱

On Father’s Day we took the kids to see Pixar's new animated film "Inside Out 2" which explores the dynamic inner life and emotions of an emerging teenage girl (don't worry, I'm not going to spoil the plot). This was an emotional experience for me to watch since our wonderful oldest child is rapidly approaching teenage years and I worry about the emotional overload teens can feel with these new stages of life. Further, while a teen, entering puberty and hormonal confusion, still has many needs from their parents a parent is often distanced from the inner recess of the teen's heart (in angst & rebellion & existential discovery) and they most often live alone in their minds with so much confusion in a tireless journey of self discovery rejecting as many possible selves as they are embracing other contradictory versions.

The film shows how toxic and paralyzing anxiety can be and how it can lead to destructive choices. Powerful questions are raised about unconscious memories and about what happens to one's core beliefs and sense of self when anxiety, embarrassment, ennui, envy and the great defense mechanism of sarcasm take over. What happens to the earlier emotions of joy, sadness, fear, and disgust when new teen emotions emerge? How can we raise our teens to be mentally healthy in an era of anxiety heightened by obsession with body image, appearance on social media, the furious vitriol of intense peers, and constant demands for achievement? What happens to our fragile psyche when we try to live with positive memories but suppress negative ones or bottle up emotions we currently find unhelpful? What happens when a positive emotion (like joy) is outnumbered 8 to 1 by a cacophony of negative emotions (many of which are unfamiliar to a young person)? Can the negative emotion of fear truly be the hero for us at times as the only emotion wise enough to carry a parachute? Can the belief "I'm a good person" survive amidst the dominant yearning to do whatever it takes to gain social acceptance? Can a sense of one's resplendent virtues & inner worth ever prevail over a perpetual sense of self doubt & capricious impulses for social status?

There were moments in my own life from 30 years ago (when I was 13) that feel like yesterday, where I also (like the main character Riley) was sweating with ambition to do what I could to make the team and win the race. I was often so alone in my fear and ambition and desperate desire to survive and to matter. My parents and others were there with me but only as much as I would let them in. They were such fun but terrifying years.

Thinking of my early years, thinking of my kids growing up, I found myself laughing and crying in this beautiful gift of a film about life and human development (which is totally fine and enjoyable for both adults & for young children in addition to teens, cultivating emotional intelligence for all who immerse reflectively). If you see it, I hope you find it meaningful too and I hope you'll share some of your reflections with me too. And I hope we can all be more gentle with the young people in our lives who often need less lectures and more emotional solidarity.

Beginning therapy means different things to each of us, but it's often an action of courage, hope, self-care, & self-determination 💛

With over a decade of experience working closely with children and families, I have cultivated a deep understanding of attachment dynamics & the profound significance of human connection in shaping our development.

Central to my practice is the exploration of how our narratives shape our perceptions of self & the world around us. Like a journey through a garden, together, we can explore the roots of your experiences, pruning away what no longer serves you & replanting seeds for positive change to blossom.

While my professional experiences have been invaluable, it is my personal experiences as a fellow human being that makes me deeply passionate about supporting others. Like you, I've faced my own share of challenges, including loss, anger, heartbreak, grief & recognize how painful it is to feel misunderstood and disconnected.

While our journeys may differ, I offer unwavering compassion and empathy, providing a safe space for you to explore and heal. Our work together will be a partnership, and I'm here to support you in your journey towards healing, growth, and a deeper understanding of yourself.

Hi! Thanks for coming to my page! am so happy you are here!

✨A little About Me ✨

I have vast experience working in a variety of settings with children, adolescents, adults, and families. I currently practice with Chris King Counseling Group where I have immediate openings in our Tulsa and Pryor offices.

Helping people has always been a passion of mine. Prior to completing my Master’s Degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling, I worked as a social worker in the foster care setting where I devoted 10+ years working with children and families. This work was foundational in deepening my understanding about attachment and the critical importance of connection in human development and its impact.

I love gently helping people explore how their stories have impacted how they see themselves and the world. When we see how our stories have shaped us, we can begin to understand ourselves and our struggles more clearly, giving us the space to heal and make changes.

My empathetic nature plays a role in my therapeutic style. In my practice I utilize a trauma-informed, emotionally focused, attachment-based approach. However, I value an eclectic approach and meeting my clients where they are and coming along side them. Just as important as the clinical framework, is my connection with you, the client.

I’ve had valuable professional experiences, but it’s my experience as a fellow human being that makes me passionate about helping others. Like you, I’ve known loss, anger, heartbreak, grief, and know how painful it is to feel misunderstood and disconnected. Our experiences may be different, but I will show up with compassion and empathy and hold space for whatever you are going through.

Call me to schedule a session.
