Did your child seem to change overnight after being sick?

For some families, that sudden shift may be connected to PANDAS - a condition linked to a misdirected immune response after strep infection that can show up as OCD behaviors, tics, anxiety, mood swings, sleep struggles, sensory issues, handwriting changes, regression, and more.

But here is the deeper piece many families are not told: sometimes strep is the trigger, but the nervous system stress underneath it may already have been there. That can leave kids more vulnerable and make recovery feel more complicated.

At our office, we use INSiGHT Scans to look at how the nervous system is functioning and adapting to stress, then use gentle neurologically focused chiropractic care to support better regulation from the inside out.

Walking early can seem like a big win, and sometimes it is. But early walking does not always mean a child built the strongest foundation along the way.

That’s because development is not just about when milestones happen. It is also about how they happen and in what order.

Milestones like head control, rolling, sitting, and crawling each help build important skills your child will use later on. They support coordination, posture, balance, body awareness, sensory processing, and communication between the brain and body.

So when a child skips milestones or moves through them out of order, it does not automatically mean something is wrong, but it can be a clue that the nervous system may need more support.

And sometimes those skipped building blocks show up later as clumsiness, poor posture, sensory struggles, focus challenges, or difficulty with coordination and regulation.

That’s why pediatric chiropractic care can be such a powerful tool. We help support and regulate the nervous system with gentle, specific care so kids can build a stronger foundation for growth, movement, coordination, and resilience. If your child skipped milestones or you’ve wondered whether something feels a little off, there may be more to the story and more we can do to help. 💙

Most milestone conversations focus on timing. Did they roll yet? Sit yet? Crawl yet? Walk yet?

But one of the most overlooked parts of development is that milestones are meant to build in order.

Each step helps lay the neurological foundation for the next. Head control supports rolling. Rolling supports core strength and body awareness. Crawling supports coordination, posture, and communication between both sides of the brain and body. Then those patterns help support standing, walking, focus, sensory processing, and regulation later on.

So yes, timing matters but sequence matters too.

When milestones are skipped, rushed, or happen out of order, it does not automatically mean something is wrong. But it can be a clue that the nervous system may need a little more support.

That’s why neurologically focused pediatric chiropractic care can be such a powerful tool. We use INSiGHT Scans to see how well your child’s nervous system is regulating and adapting. Then we gently adjust areas of tension and subluxation to help the brain and body communicate better.

That allows the nervous system to shift from stress to strength and gives your child a stronger foundation for growth, coordination, and development. Want to learn more? Head to our blog or reach out to our office,we’re here to help. 💙

In the traditional medical world, developmental milestones are used as markers to track a child’s growth and catch concerns early on. But since no two babies develop exactly the same way, those milestones do not always happen on the exact same timeline. ➡️

And honestly… that can create a lot of stress for parents when you are trying to figure out what is normal, what is not, and whether your child is truly on track. 😥

🎥 In this video, Dr. Drake walks through why developmental milestones are about more than just when they happen. What matters just as much - and often even more - is the order and sequence in which they happen.
Because when milestones are skipped, rushed, or happen out of order, that can sometimes create challenges later on with coordination, posture, sensory processing, balance, focus, and overall regulation.

That’s why this conversation matters so much. The early building blocks of development help lay the foundation for everything that comes next.

And that’s why pediatric chiropractic care can be such a powerful tool. We help support and regulate the nervous system so kids can build a stronger foundation for growth, movement, coordination, and resilience. If your child feels a little “stuck” in their development, there may be more to the story - and more we can do to help.

Most milestone conversations focus on timing - but one of the most important pieces often gets missed: the order matters too. 👶

Head control, rolling, sitting, crawling, standing, and walking are not just random steps. They help build the neurological foundation for coordination, posture, body awareness, sensory processing, focus, and regulation later on.

🎥 In this video, Dr. Drake walks through why skipped or out-of-order milestones can sometimes show up as challenges later in life - and why looking deeper at the nervous system matters.

That’s why pediatric chiropractic care can be such a powerful tool. We help calm and support the nervous system so kids can build a stronger foundation for movement, coordination, regulation, and resilience. If your child feels a little “stuck,” there may be more to the story - and more we can do to help. 💙

Most parents are told to watch for milestone delays based on age alone. But there’s another important piece that often gets missed: the order of milestones matters too.

Milestones are how a child’s brain and body build skills step by step. Rolling leads to crawling. Crawling helps develop coordination, strength, balance, and communication between both sides of the body. Those early patterns help lay the foundation for later skills like posture, focus, sensory processing, and learning.

So even if a child eventually walks, skipping key steps along the way can still be worth paying attention to.

That’s why it’s so important to look deeper than just whether your child “eventually got there.” In our latest blog, we break down why milestone sequence matters, what signs to watch for, and when it may be time to take a closer look. 📚 Check it out, link in our bio.
