Yesterday was a meaningful day for our Ecumen CountrySide residents. The morning began with delicious mimosas, setting a warm and cheerful tone. In the afternoon, we hosted a special Show and Tell, where residents were invited to bring items that held personal meaning.

From old pocket watches and cherished quilts to treasured photos and keepsakes, the stories shared were heartfelt and unforgettable. It was truly a special time filled with memories, laughter, and connection.

Last week at Ecumen Brooks, we celebrated the 4th of July with a special flute and piano performance by Kathleen and Ann. Together, they presented a beautiful program of patriotic songs. One particularly moving piece was a tribute to fallen soldiers, performed by Ann on the piano.

Following the music, we put our minds to the test with a patriotic-themed game of Wheel of Fortune led by Anna. We ended the celebration on a sweet note, enjoying a variety of delicious ice cream flavors served in waffle cones!

On Monday at Ecumen Brooks, we had a wonderful time playing Bingo—with a fun twist! Thanks to the generosity of a thoughtful Ecumen Brooks family member, Sheila, we had two adorable patriotic bird decorations as special blackout prizes. The residents were absolutely delighted to win them and are excited to add a festive touch to their spaces just in time for the 4th of July. A heartfelt thank-you to Sheila for your kindness and for helping make the day extra special!

Even though yesterday was rainy and cloudy, our Ecumen CountrySide residents didn’t let the weather dampen their summer spirit—they enjoyed delicious root beer floats during social hour!

We celebrated Father’s Day with a special party honoring all the amazing men in our community! Guests enjoyed a spread of cheese, crackers, brownies, beer, and root beer—thanks to Don M. for generously donating the drinks.

It was a great afternoon filled with conversation, laughter, and good company. We also had two lucky winners in our door prize drawings—Ghirardelli chocolate and peanuts were the sweet (and salty) prizes!

Happy Father’s Day to all the wonderful dads—we’re grateful for each of you!

At Ecumen Brooks, we had a wonderful time making colorful daffodils! Amy, our Life Enrichment Director from Ecumen Countryside, shared her creative idea with us, and our residents at Brooks had a blast bringing it to life.

Our hands got a little messy with paint, but there was plenty of laughter and joy as we crafted together. It was a fun and memorable experience for everyone!

On the first Tuesday afternoon of every month, we are treated to a special program by the kindergarteners from Owatonna Christian School and their teacher, Sharon Piepho. Each month, Sharon thoughtfully prepares an inspiring program filled with music and devotions for our residents.

Sometimes, our residents even join in to help lead the program, making it an even more meaningful experience for everyone involved. Sharon does a beautiful job, and the children are just wonderful. We are truly blessed to have them visit throughout the year!
