It's now a year since my first - yes, first open heart surgery. I am now in recovery from my second open heart surgery - yes, second! I have yet to get back to making my rosaries and have some repairs to attend to, as well.

I can only thank you for your expressions of concern and the many prayers that have been offered for my recovery. I am still hobbling around as my right leg is not in good shape at all (anyone need or want a well used human specimen?).

So, I await clearance to have both my hip and knee joints replaced. None-the-less, I am blessed as there are so many who are not as well-off as am I. Thank you, again!

Because of illness, I have not been active in managing Rosaries by Peter and have not created product for a number of weeks. When I am able, I do have plans to resume the manufacture of rosaries and bracelets. Thank you for your indulgence and patience during these days. I also ask for your prayers to Our Lord for my return to health.

From the Monastery collection comes "The Abbot." The diamond cut beads are Ebony and the cord, waxed cotton. The center is wooden with a two-sided picture of our Blessed Mother. The crucifix is made from one piece of wood. Light but strong with a 'feel' that goes from fingers to heart. Something I haven't mentioned about all that Rosaries by Peter does, is - rosary repair. Just recently, I have been contacted by several people who have broken rosaries, and have wondered if I can fix them. Some of the referrals come from jewelry stores for which I am grateful that they would send potential work, my way. As is usually the case, some 'fixes' are relatively simple; others, not so. But I will say this: God always directs me to a solution! Of that, I am convinced. I've never sent a rosary back to an owner that isn't whole. Sometimes, a repair demands the same kind of creativity as making a new rosary from scratch! Here's what's on the bench, now. If you have a broken Gram's or Mom's rosary; or, if your First Holy Communion rosary is in a box, in pieces, why don't you give me a call. I'll be happy to look at it and let you know what I think I can do with it! 507-456-1099

Reflecting on the presence of breast cancer in our time, Rosaries by Peter is creating this offering which will be available this coming weekend at the Handmade Christmas - Indie Maker Market, in Austin, at the Historic Hormel Home. This piece is made from delicate glass beads that are connected with the character and strength that only stainless steel can deliver! It will be among many others on the RBP table. This is a great show with only handmade items from some seriously talented atists and artisans from around the area. RBP is honored to be among them! Friday, December 2 from 4:00 p. m. - 8:00 p. m.; and Saturday, December 3 from 9:00 a. m. - 3:00 p. m. Here's the latest special order from a new RBP customer. She wanted something with white beads. I had ordered a 1940's issue of rice bead with an interesting twist in them, something I've never seen before. Hmm. What to do with them? The picture tells the story of the rosary, which was a baptismal gift for a baby girl. It will be saved until the child is old enough to use, and understand its use, not only then but hopefully throughout her life.

Anything of quality needs to be judiciously cared-for (or should be!). So be it with a rosary from Rosaries by Peter. "Behold the wood of the Cross on which hung the salvation of the World."

The first 'rosaries' were pebbles picked up from the ground by hermits who lived in the desert. They would say a prayer on each pebble they picked-up. As time went on, other materials were used, including woods, and these were incorporated into a prayer cord or rope, with many varieties being used today. So here is the latest offering from Rosaries by Peter to recollect that wood is not only used in rosaries, but was that which held Our Lord on the day of His crucifixion. So, wooden beads and a wooden crucifix, held together with waxed cotton cord bring a very deep and ancient way to pray, and pray especially through our Blessed Mother to her son, Jesus Christ!
