MOTHER’S DAY MEMORIAL TRIBUTE

Make this Mother’s Day extra special by honoring those who live on in our hearts.

Friends of Hospice invites you to make a donation in memory of mothers, grandmothers, aunts, godmothers, etc. this Mother’s Day.

For a $10 donation for each memorial request, names will be printed in the Owego Pennysaver on Mother’s Day, May 11th. Names will be printed under your designated Tioga County town/village location or “Out of Area” for loved ones outside of Tioga County.

It’s about more than just physical care; it’s about emotional and spiritual presence during one of life’s most profound moments. The trust people place in us to walk alongside them at this stage builds faith in the deep connections we share as humans. Helping someone navigate this journey reminds us daily of the beauty of life, love, and the peace that can come at the end.

Lighting the Nichols, NY Memorial Tree of Lights 🎄❤️🙏🏼

On December 7, community members from Nichols gathered to light the Tioga County Friends of Hospice Memorial Tree of Lights to remember and honor loved ones who have died. The evening started at 6:00pm, with Jody Cooley of the Sutfin Funeral Chapel leading the event. The tree lighting, short reading and playing of the bagpipes by Jody's husband Ted were very touching. After that, the group of almost 40 adults and children (mainly enthusiastic Girl Scouts Nichols-Tioga groups) braved the cold temperatures and walked through the village singing Christmas carols at about a dozen houses. The residents were delighted, with several of them providing treats for the carolers -- cookies, chocolates and candy canes. See the picture of the trays of homemade cookies. The Nichols Fire Department escorted the carolers through the streets with their fire engine -- complete with lights flashing! The group then warmed up with hot cocoa and special cookies at the Methodist Church, with Santa giving each of the children a special gift. It was a magical night! 🎄❤️🙏🏼
