After a lifetime of dedicated service to the Western Kentucky Regional Blood Center and our community, our fearless leader, CEO Janet Howard, approaches her well-deserved retirement.
Janet has given 45 years to building a legacy of excellence at WKRBC — 37 years of which as CEO. Under her steady leadership, your local blood center has expanded its services to become the sole provider of blood to 10 area medical facilities across 11 counties. For nearly half a century, she’s led the assurance that our region’s blood needs are met in times of both normalcy or crisis.
The everlasting imprint she leaves is not just as a leader, but also as a blood donor — becoming the first woman at WKRBC to reach both the 10-Gallon Donor (80 donations) and Century Donor (100 donations) milestones — and as a friend, welcoming and embracing all of the tens of thousands of donors who’ve stepped up alongside her to save lives over the years.
No words could ever describe the impact Janet has made. But her service is crystallized in the health and wellness of western Kentucky, and through the continued success of WKRBC that Janet has positioned us for in years and decades to come.
