WKRBC hosted OHS staff volunteers as part of the schools community outreach, putting service into action.

Modeling positive behavior for their students is part of the schools philosophy and follows their 2025-2026 theme of “Lead with Purpose. Serve with Heart. Grow through Experience.”

We sure appreciate the support! ❤️

Back to school is right around the corner, so now is the time to remind you of the important role you and your student have in saving lives in western Kentucky! 🐝📚✏️

School blood drives account for a significant portion of the blood collected by WKRBC and used in local hospitals 🩸 That means when teachers, staff, and students give, you’re a crucial part of hospitals’ treatment of patients ❤️

At WKRBC, high school students can earn an award certificate, graduation cord, and a chance at a college scholarship through our High School Heroes program. All they have to do is give blood four times throughout high school 🎓

If you have a high schooler, or you are a high schooler yourself, get started today by coming into the center, or look out for a blood drive at your high school when the school year starts! 📆

We’re so proud of WKRBC’s own Carlotta Richey for her role in bringing women’s’ veterans activities to western Kentucky.

As an Army veteran herself, she’s now also a cofounder of the new “She’s the Vet” initiative, focused on supporting and connecting female veterans in the Owensboro area.

We’re excited to see this organization grow under the leadership of Lotta and her fellow veteran women 🇺🇸
