Ever wonder what happens when OT & SLP team up? đź‘€
We put our SLP in the hot seat with some OT-style questions… here’s the quick scoop:
What grasp is this? (Pincer grasp)
Using the thumb and pointer finger to pick up small items—hello, cheerios and crayons! This is a big milestone for fine motor development.
What are the Zones of Regulation?
A simple way to help kids understand their feelings and energy levels:
🔵 Blue = tired/sad
🟢 Green = calm/ready
🟡 Yellow = wiggly/worried
đź”´ Red = overwhelmed/angry
What are the 8 sensory systems?
The ways we take in and process the world:
Sight, sound, touch, taste, smell… plus 3 “hidden” systems:
• Vestibular (movement/balance)
• Proprioception (body awareness)

What is VMI? (Visual Motor Integration)
How well the eyes and hands work together-think copying shapes, writing, cutting.
What does “without LOB” mean?
“Loss of balance”so without LOB = staying steady and controlled during movement.
