James H. “Jim” Young, 84, of Owensboro, passed away on September 26, 2025, with his loving family by his side, under the care of Hospice and Palliative Care of Western Kentucky. He was born in McLean County on July 9, 1941, and was the beloved son of the late Joseph and Birdie Young.

A lifelong car enthusiast and proud Chevrolet purist, Jim had a passion for automobiles. Over the years, he worked in several local auto parts stores, where he built a wealth of knowledge in car repair and maintenance. Always willing to lend a helping hand, he often used his skills to assist others and could frequently be found working on a project. Jim later retired from the Opportunity Center after many dedicated years as a driver. A man of faith, Jim was a former member of Parrish Avenue Baptist Church, and in later years, he and his wife became devoted members of Crosspointe Baptist Church in Owensboro.

In addition to his parents, Jim was also preceded in death by his brothers, William “Bill” Young and Robert Young, as well as infant sister, Janet Young.

Those left to cherish his memory include his wife of 61 years, Ruth Young; daughter, Jamie (Tony) Lane; grandchildren, Maddie Brandle, Tyler Lane, and Rebekah (Michael) Edwards; brother, Donnie (Linda) Young; six great-grandchildren; as well as many other loving family and friends.

A memorial service to honor Jim’s life will be held Friday, October 3, 2025, at 2 p.m. with visitation beginning at 11 a.m. at Crosspointe Baptist Church, 550 Worthington Road, Owensboro, KY 42301.

Memorial contributions may take the form of donations made in Jim’s name to Hospice and Palliative care of Western Kentucky, 3419 Wathen’s Crossing, Owensboro, KY 42301.

E. Robert Goebel, 82, a resident of Owensboro, Kentucky, died Tuesday, Sept. 23, 2025 with his children by his side. He was born in Lincoln, Illinois, Nov. 21, 1942, to Dr. Robert E. Goebel and Ruth Groff Goebel. He attended community schools in Lincoln.

He graduated from Murray State University in 1965, where he was on the varsity basketball and track teams. He then taught and coached basketball at Owensboro High School from 1965-1967. He and Maxine Bennett wed July 9, 1966. He then enrolled in the University of Kentucky College of Law, receiving his Juris Doctorate in 1970.

He then practiced law in Lexington, Kentucky and Owensboro until 1984 when he was appointed by Kentucky's governor to serve as District Judge, 6th Judicial District, Div. II. This office serves Daviess County, Kentucky, and Judge Goebel was elected to serve four successive terms, retiring from state office in 1998. He was also appointed by the Chief Justice of the Kentucky Supreme Court to serve as Special Circuit Judge to the Henderson Circuit Court, Henderson, Kentucky, serving in that capacity from 1988 to 1992.
Judge Goebel was then appointed to serve as United States Magistrate Judge for the U.S. District Court for the Western District of Kentucky and held that office from 1998 to 2012, when he retired.

During his years in Owensboro, Judge Goebel maintained an abiding interest in the well-being of his community and was a member and gave service to a wide variety of community and civic organizations. He sat on countless Boards and devoted most of his life to serving others both professionally and personally.
He was predeceased by his parents and a brother, Bruce Goebel. He is survived by his wife, Maxine Bennett Goebel; a daughter, Adrienne Goebel Smith and her husband, Vernon Smith Ill of Peachtree City, Georgia; a son, Robert E. Goebel and his wife, Hannah of Owensboro; and a brother, Stephen Goebel of Shelbyville, Illinois.

He is also survived by five grandchildren, Bennett Smith, Vernon Smith IV, Silas Goebel, Eberle Goebel, and Cora Goebel.

Judge Goebel will be cremated. At his request, there will be a private memorial service at a date to be determined, and his ashes will be inurned in the Columbarium at First Christian Church, Disciples of Christ, Owensboro, where he was a member. Any memorials should be made to the donor's favorite charity or organization that provides aid and comfort to the homeless.

Catherine “Denise” Johnson, 57, of Hartford, passed away on September 18, 2025, under the compassionate care of Hospice of Ohio County. She was born on October 25, 1967, in Orrville, Ohio, to Darrell C. Cook and Eudena E. White-Cook.

Denise found happiness in the little thing’s life had to offer. She enjoyed playing board games and card games, often bringing joy and laughter to those lucky enough to join her at the table. Her artistic side shone through in her love for coloring and crafting macramé, where she expressed her creativity with patience and care.

She was preceded in death by her mother, Eudena E. White-Cook, and brother, Darrell Pete Cook.

Those left to cherish her memory include her father, Darrell C. Cook; son, Luke (Reva) Willis; stepchildren, Richard Johnson, Sean Johnson, and Heather Johnson; brother, Delmar “Steve” Cook; grandchildren, James “Randy” Willis, Kara Willis, and Zoe Willis; dog, Chloe; as well as many other loving family and friends.

A private memorial service will be held to honor Denise’s life.

Virginia “Gini” Delania Daugherty Renfrow, 75, of Beaver Dam, passed away Sunday, September 14, 2025, surrounded by her loving family. Gini was born on May 8th, 1950, in Ypsilanti, Michigan, to the late Joe and Doris Daugherty.

In 1968, Gini married the love of her life, Danny Renfrow, and together they built a family filled with love, faith, and resilience. She was the proud mother of five children and dedicated her life to raising her family while also serving her community. For more than ten years, Gini worked as a teacher’s assistant at Horse Branch Elementary, where she shared her kindness and encouragement with countless students. She later retired from Ritatsu after many years of service.

In addition to her parents, Gini was preceded in death by her brother, William “Billy” Daugherty, and her beloved sons, Danny Brent Renfrow and Toby Jason Renfrow.

Gini leaves behind her devoted husband, Danny Renfrow; three children, Deidra (Jason) Moorman, Nikka Renfrow, and Patrick Renfrow; eight grandchildren, Tori Kinison, Hayley Renfrow, Cody Elms, Jessica Osborne, Toby Gibson, Tristen Elms, Hannah Abell, and Erica Renfrow; as well as many great-grandchildren who brought her endless joy.

Gini will be remembered for her warm heart, her love for her family, and the steady strength she carried through life’s challenges. She touched the lives of all who knew her and leaves behind a legacy of love, perseverance, and devotion.

A celebration of life for Gini will begin at 3 p.m. on Saturday, September 27, 2025, at 8997 US Hwy 62 W, Rockport, KY 42369.

Timothy “Tim” A. Hendricks, 50, of Owensboro, passed away on September 11, 2025, at his home. The Daviess County native was the beloved son of the late Larry and Christine Hendricks.

Tim was a hardworking and kind-hearted man who enjoyed the simple things in life. He loved spending time outdoors, especially fishing, riding his motorcycle, and working on landscaping projects.

Those left to cherish his memory include his wife, Tera Hendricks; children, James and Abigail Hendricks of Owensboro, Portia (Lucas) Hendricks of Owensboro, and Onyx (Latasha) Smith of Livermore; as well as many other loving family and friends.

Barney Joe Rickard, 70, of Owensboro, passed away on September 2, 2025, at Twin Rivers Nursing and Rehabilitation. The Daviess County native was born on July 7, 1955, and was the beloved son of the late Myron and Norma Jean Rickard.

A proud U.S. Army veteran, Barney served his country with quiet dedication and honor. Barney was a reserved and thoughtful man, speaking only when necessary but always with sincerity. He deeply loved his family and lived a life grounded in simple joys and quiet reflection. An avid NASCAR fan, he cheered for Dale Earnhardt and Ernie Irvan. He also found peace in casting a fishing line into still waters, sketching out a drawing, and watching classic westerns.

In addition to his parents, Barney was preceded in death by his daughters, Laura Kay and Jenny Rickard and brothers, Myron Jack and Richard Lee Rickard.

Linda Eilleen Blevins, 59, of Owensboro passed away Monday, September 1, 2025, at Twin Rivers Nursing and Rehabilitation. She was born April 19, 1966, in Christine, Missouri to the late Freedom S. Yocum and Eilleen Dixon Yocum. Linda was such an amazing mother and grandmother to all her family. Her smile and laughter lit up every room she sat in. Linda was more than a mother; she was a best friend. Someone her children could depend on if they needed help, someone who never gave up on the people she loved the most. Linda always had a unique way of making others feel better by staying by their side and telling them she loved them with all her heart, and by simply saying, “It will get better”! Her favorite saying was, “I’m not the crazy one, I’m just a little out there”.

Danny Virgil Hocker Sr., 74, of Owensboro, passed away on Saturday, September 6, 2025, under the compassionate care of Hospice and Palliative Care of Western Kentucky. He was born on January 27, 1951, in Rockport, Kentucky, and was the beloved son of the late Virgil Paul Hocker and Lennie “Eloise” Oglesby-Hocker.

Danny began his career at the age of 18 at Birnie Oil Tool, where he discovered the trade he truly loved. When the company was sold, Danny took a leap of faith and founded his own business, Hocker Machine Shop, in 1994. He poured his heart into the shop and took great pride in the work he did and the relationships he built over the years. Danny’s greatest joys were his family, his friends, and the time he spent with them. He was also a devoted member of Yellow Creek Baptist Church, where his faith played an important role in his life.

In addition to his parents, Danny was preceded in death by his siblings, Faye Vandiver, Sheila Beyke, David Hocker, and Keith Hocker; great granddaughters, Bella Rose Hocker and Violet Dawn Hocker; and stepdad, Paul Hicks.

Those left to cherish his memory include his loving wife of 55 years, Mary Hocker; children, Danny Hocker, Jr. (Shannon) and Shelly Austin (James); siblings, Roger Carter (Ann), Tammy London (Jeff), and Kelly Baugh (Jerry); grandchildren, Gage Hocker (Kelsey), Haleigh Tapp, Brieona Hocker, Alexander Austin, and Gabriella Austin; great-grandchildren, Harlie Hocker, Lincoln Hocker, Reid Hocker, Ziggy Tapp, and Weston Hocker; as well as many other loving family and friends.

Teresa Ann Woosley passed away shortly after celebrating her 69th birthday on August 31, 2025 surrounded by her loving family, at Ohio County Hospital in the care of hospice. She was born in Greenville, KY to the late Jennie Mae Luckett Shemwell and the late John Edwin Shemwell.

Teresa was a retired nurse practitioner and was known throughout the community as a dedicated and passionate medical provider. Her patients and colleagues admired not only her medical expertise but also her genuine ability to listen, comfort and heal. She truly loved her profession and all of the relationships she formed over the years.

Aside from her career, Teresa had a lifelong love of learning. If she wasn’t working, you could find her at home reading from her enormous book collection. She loved books from all genres, but her favorites included historical fiction, science fiction and mythology. Teresa’s favorite things to do included shopping trips with her granddaughters, antique shopping with her sister to add to her ever-growing glassware collection and searching for Snoopy and Pioneer Woman collectibles for her daughter. She was a generous and selfless woman who loved making others happy. Teresa’s favorite role in life was being a grandma, and it was evident to anyone who knew her because she was always talking about her grand kids, their achievements and how much she adored them. Her granddaughters lovingly gave her the nickname G-ma, which quickly became a favorite.

In addition to her parents, Teresa was preceded in death by her loving and devoted husband of 40 years, David Clark Woosley, her firstborn child and only son, Michael James Woosley; grandparents, Martin and Mamie Luckett and Edwin and Robbie Ann Shemwell; stepdad, Kelley Rhoades; stepmom, Sharon Shemwell; step grandmother, Irene Shemwell; mother and step father-in-law, Patricia and Len Hillard; father-in-law, Malcolm Woosley; brother-in-law, Ron Hillard; sister-in-law, Marilyn Woosley; and a very special great uncle, James Luckett.

Diane Crossley, 66, of Owensboro, passed away while under the compassionate care of the Heartford House – Hospice and Palliative Care of Western Kentucky. The Daviess County native was born on April 13, 1959, and was the beloved daughter of the late Clifford Wilson and Norma Adams. Diane cherished the time spent with her family, especially her grandchildren. In her free time, she enjoyed playing bingo.

In addition to her parents, Diane was preceded in death by her husband, Jeff Crossley; sister, Susan Burns; stepfather, Ed Adams; and mother-in-law, Alice Crossley.

Glois M. Camp, 79, of Philpot, passed away peacefully on August 15, 2025, surrounded by her loving family. Born on September 26, 1945, she was the cherished daughter of Dodson Moseley and Elizabeth Moseley-Zimmerman.

Glois lived a life defined by love, kindness, and dedication. To know her was to be unconditionally loved. She found joy in the simple pleasures like cooking, spending time with family and friends, and caring for her beloved pets. A devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and friend, Glois touched countless lives with her warmth and generosity.

She was preceded in death by her father, Dodson Moseley; sister, Linda Edmonson; and stepfather, Howard Zimmerman.

She is survived by her 103-year-old mother, Elizabeth Zimmerman; loving husband, William Camp; three sons, Dodd, Jason, and Christopher Camp; daughter-in-law, Samantha; and two wonderful grandchildren, Jessica and Jacob. She also leaves behind her devoted grand-dog, Moose, as well as many nieces, nephews, and extended family and friends who will forever cherish her memory.

The memorial service to honor Glois’ life will be held on Friday, August 22, 2025, at 6 p.m. at Glenn Funeral Home and Crematory. Visitation will be from 3 p.m. until the time of service.
