It is with deep sorrow that we announce the passing of Freeman L. Tooley, who passed away on April 20, 2026, surrounded by his loving family. He was born March 7, 1950, and was the beloved son of the late Elmer and Nancy Tooley.

Through his journey of seventy-six years, Freeman was a man of boundless energy who touched many lives with his generosity and humor. He was an avid outdoorsman who loved hunting and fishing with his children or just relaxing outside surrounded by nature’s beauty. He dedicated over 50 years as a talented landscaper at Tudor’s Evergreen Nursey. Freeman was very caring and giving and never wavered in his love for his family. He lived his life to the fullest.

He was proceeded in death by his loving wife, Shirley Ann Tooley.

Freeman is survived by his children, Kimberly (Mark) Mercer and Troy (April) Tooley; grandsons, Aaron (Sarah) Tooley, Alex Tooley, and Jeffery (Brooklyn) Phillips; as well as great-grandchildren, Caroline Grace Tooley and Nathan Jock Phillips.

Freeman’s adventurous spirit will live on in the hearts of those who loved him. There will be a private celebration honoring his life.

Carla Rose Fletcher, 77, of Owensboro, passed away on April 9, 2026, at Owensboro Health Regional Hospital. She was born on December 9, 1948, in Flint, Michigan, and was the beloved daughter of the late Carl and Buelah Rutledge.

Carla loved her family dearly and enjoyed nothing more than a house full of her favorite people and pets. She was a hardworking woman, serving for many years as part owner of a construction cleaning company in Florida. In her younger years, Carla was energetic and athletic, enjoying a wide range of sports from softball to motorcycle racing. She carried an adventurous spirit throughout her life, always eager to hit the open road and discover new places.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her siblings, Lorraine Hatcher, Bonnie Wilson, Zane Rutledge, Jerry Rutledge, Barbara Champ, Shirley Brown, Janet Thomas, and Wanda Prosser, as well as a grandson, Austin Lusher.

Those left to cherish her memory include her children, Shelly Deal, Gary Lusher, Amy Howard, Heather Fletcher, and Jamie (James) Prater; sister, Charlotte Stevens; grandchildren, Jennifer, Anthony, Wyatt, Erica, Kristy, Brittany, Dallas, Stormie, Katie, Lilly, Cai, and Nolan; great grandchildren, Emma, Ayden, Chris, Carly, Talen, Hadley, Kinsley, Elizabeth, Houston, and Noah; as well as many other loving family and friends.

William “Joe” Howard, 75, of Owensboro, passed away on April 6, 2026, at Owensboro Health Regional Hospital. He was born in Daviess County on July 22, 1950, and was the beloved son of the late Joseph and Mary Helen Howard.

Joe retired from Daramic after many dedicated years as an electrician, taking great pride in his work and the life he built for his family. In retirement, he found joy on the golf course and in the kitchen, where he loved preparing meals to share with those he loved most. Family was at the heart of everything Joe did. He and his wife cherished every moment spent with their grandchildren, creating memories that would last a lifetime. He often smiled, reminiscing about the days when they were small, especially their playful adventures. And when Joe needed a little quiet time, he could almost always be found relaxing in his “man cave.”

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his children, Kim, Kelly, Ben and Adam Howard, and fur baby, Max.

Those left to cherish his memory is his beloved wife of 55 years, Vicki Howard; daughter, Mischelle (Brian) Head; grandchildren, Zach and Briley Head; dear friend, Fred Johnson; as well as many other loving family and friends.

Jimmy James Prunes, Sr., 63, of Lewisport, passed away on March 31, 2026, under the care of Hospice of Western Kentucky. He was born on October 3, 1962, in Mountain Village, Alaska, and was the beloved son of the late William “Rusty” and Mary Agatha Prunes.

Jimmy was a fun and loving man who cherished the people around him. An avid outdoorsman, he spent countless hours hunting and fishing alongside his brother, creating memories that lasted a lifetime. He dedicated over 30 years of his life to working as a commercial fisherman, a testament to his strong work ethic and love for the water. Jimmy was also a talented craftsman, known for creating beautiful jewelry pieces that he proudly shared with his family. In his quieter moments, he found joy in the simple things, especially long walks with his beloved dogs, Zeus and Cain, appreciating their companionship and the peace of the outdoors.

In addition to his parents, Jimmy was preceded in death by his daughter, Jana Prunes, brothers, John and Davey Prunes, and granddaughter, Cadence Amos.

Those left to cherish his memory include his beloved wife of 17 years, Rita Prunes; children, Tiffany Amos, Jimmy Prunes, Jr., and Yvonne Evan; stepchildren, Greg Evan, Marquetta Zidrashko, Evan, James and Donald Fischer; sister-in-law, Lisa Taul and brother-in-law, J.R. George W. McGee, Jr., 84, of Owensboro, passed away peacefully on March 23, 2026. George was a native of Hopkinsville and graduated from Hopkinsville High School in 1959, where he was a football and track standout. He earned a track scholarship to Oklahoma Baptist College in Shawnee, OK. George was a Kentucky Colonel and had been a member of the Jaycees, in addition to having worked at Planters Bank and the Kentucky New Era.

He was preceded in death by his parents, George, Sr. and Mary McGee.

Those left to cherish his memory include his wife, Linda; sons, Roy (Tim) and Scott; and brother, John Gerry McGee.

In keeping his wishes, George will be cremated and then interred in the family plot at Riverside Cemetery in Hopkinsville.

Daniel Lawrence Epley, 78, of Drakesboro, passed away on March 10, 2026, at Owensboro Health Regional Hospital. He was born on January 21, 1948, in Greenville and was the beloved son of the late Daniel Ray and Ollie Mae Epley.

Daniel was a hard worker and showed his strength throughout the years as a grave digger for both Tucker Funeral Home and Rose Hill Cemetery, working in chicken houses with his brother-in-law, Roger, as well as at the water office.

Those left to cherish his memory include his dear wife of 54 years, Velma Epley; children, Brian Epley, Micheal Epley, and Crystal Epley Mayhugh; grandchildren, Alyssa Epley, Brooklyn Epley, Christian Epley, Daniel Epley, Scott Epley, Re*****on Epley, River Epley, Colby Bolin, R.J. Chumley; as well as many other loving family and friends.

It is with heavy hearts and deep love, we announce the passing of Mark Andrew Tennant, who left this world on March 2, 2026, at the age of 69. Mark was a man who lived with a kind heart and child-like joy. He was a dedicated auto mechanic for many years, but his true passion was music. It was through his bass playing, singing, and song writing, he was able to spread his wings.
He was preceded in death by his mother Hazel Marie Lewe; stepfather, Chong Kook Lewe, and father, Evans Andrew Tennant (Ellen).
Mark is survived by his beloved wife, Maria Patricia; children, Jacqueline Tennant (Benjamin Laakonen) and Andrew Luis Tennant; grandchildren, Usagi Laakonen and Benjamin Laakonen, Jr.; brother, Robert H. Lewe, M.D. (Elizabeth Holloman); nieces and nephews, Mary Hazel Lewe-Gray (Nick), Robert Chong Landon Lewe, Allen Burke, Jessica Funkhouser (Travis), Daniel Rodriguez, Monica Rodriguez, and Manuel Rodriguez; sister-in-law and brother-in-law, Rocio Hall (David) and Jorge Rodriguez (Marcela); extended family including aunt, Doris Hackley, and his closest cousins, David Hackley (Sandra), Frank Hackley (Jayne), and Beth Donelan; as well as many other loving family and friends.

Though we grieve the loss of his physical presence, we carry forth his creativity, his warmth, and his unwavering love. His life was a masterpiece – not because it was perfect, but because it was authentic and full of heart. He will be forever loved and deeply missed.

A funeral mass will be held to honor Mark sometime in the future as his family takes time for themselves in this time of loss.

William Sidney “Bill” McLaughlin, Sr., 69, of Hartford, passed away on March 8, 2026, surrounded by his family. He was born January 10, 1957, in San Bernadino, California. Bill was a proud United States Air Force veteran and a man known for his strong work ethic, generous heart, and ability to fix just about anything.

Bill worked for many years as a diesel mechanic before retiring, though he never truly slowed down. He loved working with his hands - fixing houses, repairing things for others, cooking, and spending time outdoors. He was also known for making the best cheesecakes and never missing a chance to give a thoughtful card to someone he loved.

He was a devoted father to Will (Lacie) McLaughlin, Tiffani (Chad) Anderson-Riley, and Sean McLaughlin, as well as a proud grandfather to nine grandchildren and one great-grandson, all of whom brought him great joy.

Bill will be remembered for his kindness, his willingness to help others, and the genuine love he showed his family. He will be deeply missed by all who knew him.

Terry King, 70, of Fordsville Kentucky, passed away peacefully surrounded by his loved ones under the care of Hospice and Palliative Care of Ohio County on March 4, 2026. He was born in Vincennes, Indiana, on November 26,1955, where he continued his childhood. Terry met his loving wife, Christine Hendricks, and the two enjoyed going to the Yellow Rose together.

Terry took pride in raising his grandchildren with his wife, Christine. They enjoyed many years together until Christine’s passing. Terry was a hard-working coal miner and worked at Grand Eagle Coal Mine for 39 years, running a drill on the top side of the coal mines.

He brought light into many people's lives, especially his grandchildren, children, and all the friends he made throughout his lifetime. During his time in this world, Terry enjoyed going down to VFW Post 696 with his best friend and listening to the bands play on Saturday night. His favorite was Black Ford Creek and when they played, he would go out on the dance floor with his friends. Terry loved to walk along the river on warm sunny days. He also loved to spend time with his family whether it was going out to dinner or sitting on the porch in the sunshine, grilling and smoking food with his family and enjoying the weather.

Terry was preceded in death by his mother, Bernadine King, and his wife, Christine Hendricks.

Those left to cherish his memory include his sons, Kiley King (Debbie Howard) of North Carolina and Terry R. King of Louisville; grandchildren, Alex King of Owensboro, Rebecca King (Nick Prater) of Fordsville, Tiffany Spears of Evansville, IN., Alyssa Riley of Ekron, and best friend, Shannon Robinson of Owensboro; cousin, Lorena Goff of Oak Town, IN; as well as many other loving family and friends.

Katie Lynn Sorrels Hughes, 31, of Owensboro, passed away on March 1, 2026. She was born on April 19, 1994, and was the beloved daughter of Thomas and Lisa Sorrels.

Katie was a mother to four beautiful children, whom she loved fiercely. She found happiness in life’s simple pleasures like reading romance novels and listening to music. She was a devoted fan of Taylor Swift, often finding comfort and connection in her songs.

She was preceded in death by her “Papaw Sorrels” Tommy Sorrels, and Papaw Delphin Sanchez.

Those left to cherish her memory is her children, Brady Hughes, Abigail Poston, Tucker Hughes, and J.J. Hughes; mother, Lisa Lynn Sorrels; father, Thomas (Deborah) Sorrels; grandmother, Sandy Sanchez; brothers, Christopher Sorrels, Colby Sorrels, Zachary Sorrels, and Austin Greer; as well as many aunts, uncles, cousins, and other dear family and friends.

Roger Wayne Morris, 63, of Owensboro passed away peacefully on January 27, 2026, surrounded by his loved ones under the care of Hospice and Palliative Care of Western Kentucky – Heartford House. The Daviess County native was born on October 27, 1962, and was the son of the late John and Catherine Morris.

Roger was a United States Army National Guard veteran who served proudly for eight years. He dedicated many years of hard work to Field’s Packing Company before retiring. Above all, Roger loved his family dearly and was deeply devoted to his children and grandchildren.

In addition to his parents, Roger was preceded in passing by his sister, Tammy Henson.

Those left to cherish his memory include his daughters, Sarah Davis of Little Rock, Arkansas, and Amber (Stephen) Crowe of Owensboro; beloved grandchildren, Olivia Davis, Sophia Davis, and Adriel Crowe, who brought him immense joy; brothers, John (Cathy) Morris and Scott (Peggy) Morris; sister, Kathy (Roy) Blankenship; along with many cherished cousins, nieces, nephews, and dear friends.

Barry Eugene Lee, 60, of Owensboro, passed away at his home on January 24, 2026, under the care of his family with support from Hospice and Palliative Care of Western Kentucky. He was born on April 27, 1965, and was the beloved son of the late Vernon and Mary Helen Lee.

Barry may have had a gruff exterior, but beneath it was a heart of gold. He was the unofficial “mayor” of Thruston and never met a stranger. Always the first to show up when someone needed a helping hand, Barry was known for his generosity and loyalty. He loved anything with an engine, especially watching them race, and in his younger days worked on a NASCAR pit crew. An avid animal lover, Barry cared for many four-legged friends throughout his life. He was a proud Christian and was baptized at Chestnut Grove Baptist Church.

Those left to cherish his memory include his son, Austin Woodward (Devon); siblings, Larry Lee (David), Cathy Lee Bays (Steve), and Cyndi Lee Lamar; niece, Sarah Kaiser (Cory); nephew, Matthew Bays (Whitney); great nephew, Drayven Bays; dog, M.H.; as well as many other loving family and friends.

A celebration of life will be held from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. on January 31, 2026, at Settle Memorial United Methodist Church Gymnasium, 201 E. 4th St., Owensboro, KY 42301.
