I want surgery but I’m worried about scars.

A very common and understandable concern! While scars are the unavoidable trade-off to surgery, they can be minimized with a number of factors. Dr. Woodyard always considers scar placement while doing procedures on any patient. Whenever possible, incisions are always placed in the least noticeable position like within a crease under a breast or within a natural fold like on the face. Dr. Woodyard always fully describes and sometimes uses helpful images/drawings to show scar placement when consulting with any patient. After surgery, patients are educated and given information for scar treatment with silicone to help scars mature faster leaving patients with a lighter and less noticeable scar. Compression garments used after surgery are also helpful therapies for scars during healing. Our website before and after photos are a great resource for pre op patients to look at typical procedure scar placement.
