🌟 September is National Recovery Month! 🌟

As we step into this important month, let’s take a moment to honor those who have embarked on the courageous journey of recovery. Recovery is not just about overcoming addiction; it’s about reclaiming lives, rebuilding relationships, and rediscovering hope.

Throughout September, I'll be sharing daily posts that highlight inspiring quotes, personal stories, resources, and ways we can support one another. Together, we can break the stigma around recovery and encourage open conversations about mental health and addiction.

πŸ’ͺ Whether you’re in recovery, a supporter, or simply someone looking to learn more, your voice matters. Let’s create a community of hope and resilience. Every step toward recovery is a step worth celebrating!

Join me on this journey as we share, support, and uplift each other. πŸ’–

Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs)

1. Why does Drug-Free Coalition of Granville County target youth ages 13-21?
βœ…οΈExposure to high risk behaviors occurs during middle school years. If we want to prevent high risk behaviors we must educate early and talk often.
2. Why do some people get addicted to drugs?
βœ…οΈ This us a great question, and unfortunately, it is not a easy answer. Some people are more vulnerable to addiction than others, but it's important for you to remember that anyone, at any age, can become addicted to drugs. Because your brain is still developing as a teen, however, you are especially prone to addiction. Drugs and alcohol change the chemicals in your brain. They disrupt how you think, how you act, and how your brain works. It only takes a few hits or few pills to start this cycle. In fact, 9 out of 10 people who have a substance addiction started using in their adolescence, before their 18th birthday. Other addiction risk factors can include genetics, the availability of drugs, economic status and community, poor academic performance, traumatic life events, and lack of adult supervision growing up.
3. How can I learn more?
