Bonnie and Jess are headed to IDA next week to present a session on using zines as a way to enhance explicit writing instruction.
You KNOW attendees are going to walk away with new knowledge and something they can use right away in classes and sessions. (Plus, Jess and Bonnie presenting together is ALWAYS a hoot! 😄)

Effective communication (also reading, writing, and problem solving) is all about patterns.

Language is filled with patterns we use, all day, every day, to get just about everything we have to do done.

Brain Frames are six visual tools that help organize language according to those patterns.

With Brain Frames, we as educators can deliver instruction in a way that makes all of our content visible and accessible to all students.

With Brain Frames, our students can show (literally) exactly what they know in a way that makes sense -- to us, to their peers, and to themselves.

Hey SLPs! What would you say to an automated language sample analysis tool that uses AI, allows you to upload a narrative sample, and gives you a *MISL report within 30 seconds?

(*MISL = Monitoring indicators of scholarly language: A progress monitoring tool for measuring complexity in narrative macrostructure. It's similar to the Test of Narrative Language)

Pretty fantastic, right? It's being developed right now! Professor Sandra Gillam and her development partners will be in our online Lounge Tuesday night to tell us all about it. It's going to be brilliant!

It's an absolute honor to work for a company that not only holds its commitment to literacy for all sacred, but also its stewardship to the land the company occupies.

Thank you to all of the Wilson employees and the town of Oxford's DPW for banding together last week to clear out some of the public space in town.

Jess, of course, had her camera in one hand while slinging a rake in the other. had a blast.

The writing process can be a long and somewhat mysterious journey for students-- and for the teachers who have to demystify it for them.

That's just one of the reasons we're thrilled to be offering another online EmPOWER course.

There's no mystery with EmPOWER. This method for explicitly and systematically teaching academic writing consists of 9 questions, 5 strategies, and 10 visual tools.

We recently got to spend a day training Wilson Language Learning Specialists and Dyslexia Specialists in Brain Frames.

It was an absolute blast!!

Sooo many smart folks in one room sharing idea after idea on how to use Brain Frames to bolster EVERYTHING having to do with language. As you can imagine, reading comprehension was a hot topic, and Brain Frames didn't disappoint.

The very next day, we stopped in to the LS and DS retreat to see how everyone liked the training and found them making Brain Frames ALL OVER THE PLACE!

Incredible educators using incredible visual tools. We can't wait to see what they do with them in the future!
