Stonewater Adolescent Recovery Center

Stonewater Adolescent Recovery Center Stonewater is a privately-owned, 90 day residential program for teens struggling with mental health or substance use.

We use experiential therapies, DBT, academics, family work and purpose-focused programming to help parents get their child back, better. Stonewater is a comprehensive dual-diagnosis treatment center, addressing adolescent needs for Withdrawal Management (Detox) and Residential Care. Our individualized adolescent treatment is built on the latest scientific research and proven techniques to increase the likelihood of successful outcomes. Our founders have been there, where you are now, and understand that your child is an individual who needs a recovery program focused on long term changes - one that provides safety, privacy, security and success. Because adolescents aren’t the only ones affected by their substance use or mental health struggles, Stonewater provides support for families through individual coaching, group therapy and other educational activities to better understand how to provide support throughout recovery. We want to see your child or loved one successful both within our walls and at home, so our programs are designed to promote a sustained, ongoing approach to overcoming issues like anxiety, depression, impulsivity or substance use and re-engaging in life as a family.

Cannabis addiction is real. Approximately 1 in 6 adolescents who use ma*****na develop a substance use disorder, often accompanied by withdrawal symptoms like irritability, insomnia, and cravings. Your teen may be functioning, but they can’t stop using—and that’s a red flag.

Our residential program combines evidence-based therapies, family support, and individualized care to break the cycle of cannabis dependence.

What starts as “casual use” can snowball into severe mental health issues, especially with today’s high-potency THC. Parents often blame themselves when their child experiences psychosis, but cannabis exposure is a known factor.

At Stonewater, we intervene early and provide answers, treatment, and a plan forward so your family doesn’t feel alone in the fight for your child’s health.

Anxiety is already a challenge for today’s youth; cannabis adds fuel to the fire. Studies report that THC often triggers anxiety, paranoia, and panic attacks—especially in adolescents.

This isn’t just uncomfortable; it’s scary and destabilizing. Stonewater provides teens with evidence-based strategies like DBT, mindfulness, and supportive structure to manage stress without substances.

Ma*****na doesn’t just create a haze in the moment—it can rewire how memories are formed and retrieved. THC disrupts the hippocampus, the brain’s memory center, which is still developing in adolescence. This can mean forgotten assignments, zoning out during conversations, and losing focus in class

At Stonewater, we go beyond abstinence to help teens strengthen focus and cognitive functioning, creating a foundation for long-term healing and academic success.

Falling grades, missed assignments, skipping class. It’s easy to chalk these up to teenage rebellion. But cannabis can silently sabotage motivation, focus, and memory.

Your teenager isn’t lazy. Their THC use has dulled their drive and ambition. We’ve seen teens regain their spark for learning when given structure and care. Stonewater is where struggling students rebuild confidence and resilience.

Psychosis doesn’t always mean your child is gone for good, but it is a sign they need urgent help. With THC potency levels climbing over 90% in concentrates, cannabis-induced psychosis is becoming alarmingly common among adolescents. But intervening early is critical.

Don’t wait until it’s too late.

Stonewater provides immediate, compassionate intervention to guide your family to safety and healing.

Cannabis isn’t a cure-all for emotional pain. In fact, it often makes it worse over time. Research shows adolescent cannabis users are twice as likely to experience severe mental health challenges, including psychotic symptoms, than adult users.

Our team helps teenagers untangle substance use from underlying mental health issues, identify harmful stressors and create a path toward real emotional stability.

Please join us in celebrating our Q3 Valuenator, Daniel “Houston” Murphy! 💙

Houston has been part of the Stonewater team for over two years and continues to shine as a living example of our core values. Every day, Houston models what it means to Serve to Lead and See One Another as God’s Creations. He approaches our young men with grace and consistency, always taking time to connect before he corrects.

As one teammate shared, "He consistently Serves to Lead and Sees One Another as God’s Creations (Stonewater Core Values), handling interactions with residents with grace, accountability, and authentic care."

Another added, “Houston takes his role very seriously and has established himself as a mentor to fellow co-workers and the residents. It is a pleasure to watch his personal and professional growth!”

This quarter, Houston has stepped into his role with quiet strength and an unwavering heart. We’re so proud of the impact he’s making each day at Stonewater. Congratulations, Houston!

Adolescence is a critical time for forming identity, but ma*****na use can cloud that process. When THC becomes part of a teen’s routine, it can stunt emotional growth and disrupt the path toward self-discovery.

At Stonewater, we help young people rewrite the story. Through therapy, structure, and family support, they learn to reconnect with purpose and their full potential.

Some teens seem fine on paper—but ma*****na is still hurting them emotionally and neurologically. High-functioning cannabis use is still cannabis use. And in teens, it comes at a cost. Stonewater provides early, compassionate care—before the damage deepens.

Teens are already wired for risk-taking—their brains are still under construction, and impulse control is one of the last skills to fully develop. Add THC to the mix, and that natural vulnerability skyrockets. Cannabis doesn’t just create a buzz; it actively disrupts judgment, slows reaction times, and increases the likelihood of dangerous decisions that can change a teen’s life in an instant.

At Stonewater, we understand this isn’t about “bad kids” or “bad choices”—it’s about a brain that needs guidance, structure, and support. Our residential program gives teens the tools they need to hit pause, think critically, and grow into confident decision-makers

“Just weekends” may sound harmless, but even infrequent cannabis use can affect memory, sleep, motivation, and mental health. THC doesn't need to be used daily to do real damage.

The brain doesn’t care how often you use — the effects can look the same.

At Stonewater, we treat the full picture—regardless of frequency.
