Good morning!!! Today is a beautiful day to Celebrate Nursing Home week at the New York State Veterans' Home, Oxford . I will be serving lunch from 10-2 at the Vets Home and I am Open to the Public.

Yesterday we celebrated Nursing Home Week at Norwich Rehab and it was a great turn out! Thank you all for all that you do 🥰

The Military Order of the Cootie (MOC) is an honor degree of the Veterans of Foreign Wars of the United States, dedicated to supporting veterans, their families, and promoting military humor and camaraderie. Founded on September 17, 1920, in New York City by Fred C. Madden and F. L. Gransbury, it became a subsidiary of the VFW in 1923. The organization was inspired by the Imperial Order of the Dragon and modeled after the Shriners, with a focus on fun, humor, and service. Its name, "Cootie," references the lice that plagued soldiers in World War I, symbolizing resilience and camaraderie.

The MOC made their yearly stop in Oxford to enjoy a game of balloon volley with the residents.

The group made two monetary donations to the Home, to provide materials to our Therapeutic Gardening Program, and other needed supplies to support resident programming!
