Coalition for Family Harmony

Coalition for Family Harmony It is our mission to provide direct services to victims of domestic violence and sexual assault.

Since 1976, the Coalition has provided victims of family violence with the means to help them escape their life of abuse – and for over 30 years, we have operated a 24-hour bilingual crisis hotline to enable their first step toward a better life. As we assisted more and more victims, we realized that we needed to implement a variety of services – essentially, a continuum of care – to optimize their best chance of a permanent, successful transition to an abuse-free existence. Thus, a primary Coalition focus is not only directly helping the victim but eliminating violence in the home, underscored by our development of a comprehensive range of shelter-based programs for adult victims, parents, and at-risk youth – all of which are available in Spanish and English. The Coalition offers a variety of services to assist survivors of domestic violence, sexual assault and child abuse, as well as family and friends of those suffering from abuse.

Last week, our shelter advocates had the opportunity to meet with Líderes Campesinas to strengthen collaboration and deepen our connection with the community we serve. Partnerships like these are essential to ensuring survivors have access to culturally responsive support, resources, and advocacy.

Gaslighting isn’t “just drama.” It’s manipulation.
If someone makes you question your memory, feelings, or reality over and over — that’s not love. That’s control.

Consent isn’t awkward. It’s respect.
If it’s not a clear yes, it’s a no.
Real relationships listen.
Consent means:
• Freely given
• Clearly said
• Can be changed anytime Anything else isn’t consent.

When you give, whether through a one-time gift, monthly donation, or planned giving, your generosity becomes part of the vital support that sustains communities. Yet despite the fact that women and girls make up more than half the population, organizations dedicated to their well-being receive just a fraction of that support. Research shows that historically, less than 2% of all U.S. charitable giving has gone to groups serving women and girls.

At the Coalition for Family Harmony, we see firsthand how this funding gap affects programs addressing domestic violence, sexual assault, education, and economic stability for women and girls in Ventura County. Even recent analyses show only modest gains: giving to women’s and girls’ organizations nudged to about 2.18% in 2022 and held near 2.04% in 2023 (WIAReports.com). For donors like you, this is a moment of real opportunity. Your contributions can do more than sustain programs—they can help shift priorities toward equity, justice, and meaningful change in the lives of women and girls right here in our community.

By directing your support to the Coalition for Family Harmony and similar organizations that advance the rights, safety, and well-being of women and girls, you help close the gap and create lasting impact. Each gift, whether large or small, becomes part of a movement to ensure that women and girls are not just supported, but empowered to thrive. Together, donors can transform giving from a statistic into a statement of values — showing that when it comes to supporting half the population, every dollar counts.
