My journey began when my body was giving up, I was told that I had the symptoms of multiple sclerosis and I’d be in a wheelchair within 3 years. This all started in 2007 I was roller skating & laying floors, I thought I was tough enough to do anything. Then I started losing feeling in my legs & arms on different days. My joints hurt all the time. I had chronic neck and back pain that plagued me night and day. My muscles would twitch all over and I’d get sharp shooting pains in random areas. I lived in pain all the time. Not to mention the chronic fatigue and depression this caused. Oh ya and the handfuls of pills prescribed.
So why would I share this vulnerability with you? Because I'm not alone with being diagnosed multiple times with idiopathic illnesses because the doctors are limited on time and what they can say and not say by regulation of your insurance company or the FDA.
One day my hubby decided to go to clinical massage school and every week he would work in a different area of pain that I had. I couldn't believe the relief I would get from something as simple as touch. I had to learn more! I was hooked! I hadn't felt that much compassion and concern for my well being in years. I really didn't know it existed. Usually, its drug suggestions or surgery options, not something that feels good. I had no idea at the time that there was actual science behind it. So my husband seeing my passion to understand the science, paid for me to go to school.
As I experienced massages by multiple locations I realized a commonness I found disturbing. The therapist had gotten out into the world to work at spas, that retrained them to be sales reps instead of muscle, fascia, mind & body therapist. I got offered teas, essential oils, sauna, robe/slippers, and packages before I was even on the table. It was very disappointing!
