For those of us who have been doing restorative functional fertility care for a long time, it is good news to see it being introduced to more people. It's interesting the accusations being leveled at it from the IVF industry. "It's not science, it's made-up, people are already working on lifestyle, it's delaying people from getting IVF!" You realize this is strategized disinformation campaign. They want society to believe that IVF is the ONLY option, which ultimately is a financial motivation. Restorative Reproductive Medicine is getting to the root cause of fertility challenges, like treating endometriosis, hormone imbalances, autoimmune diseases, underlying infection, metabolic conditions, male factor, etc. Not only does this frequently divert the need for IVF, but it's way cheaper. So even when they try to pose it as only for "right-wing MAGA MAHA types", the reality is, it has helped many women conceive without IVF & it adds the benefit of a healthier pregnancy in the process. Win Win! For more info, see drpoppyandco.com.

Long confined to the medical fringe, “restorative reproductive medicine” has unified Christian conservatives and proponents of the Make America Healthy Again movement on the political right.

We'll see if FB let's me post about my true experiences during Covid as a physician:

Here's the reality. Many people died from Covid (and before you say it was all fake, it was not, my husband is an ICU doc), especially the Delta wave. Hospital physicians were not permitted to prescribe high dose Vitamin C or D, or Ivermectin or Hydroxychloroquine. They were often forced to use sub-optimal doses of steroids & Remdesivir.

But I want to share a special story about a patient of mine who was in the military who was trying to get pregnant. She didn't want the shot & so I wrote her a medical exemption. It was denied (by a PA not in the fertility field). She was essentially forced out of the military. When the military reversed their policy & invited back those who were treated so horribly, she re-upped. She was in Germany when she suffered a stroke. She was found to have anti-phospholipid syndrome, an acquired autoimmune condition that causes blood clots & miscarriages. She & I feel very certain she would have died if she took the Covid shot. She & I both shed tears of relief that we both fought against the extreme pressure to cave to an experimental drug against her will. If she had gotten Covid, I would have treated her with the above meds but she didn't. Now she is preparing to try to conceive. Never forget what a war was raged against free will & bodily autonomy. And ALWAYS go with your gut!

Crude but true.. 🤓. Because sometimes we just won't learn otherwise. 🤷‍♀️

In case you thought it was antithetical to midwifery to not just support abortions, but do abortions, it's time you find out that it's the unapologetic goal.

This workshop covers everything needed to provide options counseling, medication abortion, and telehealth abortion, as well as values clarification. At the end of the training, you’ll be ready to implement what you've learned into your practice immediately with template policies and procedures, standardized procedures, competency validation documents, and patient handouts. For those attendees in California, this training meets all of the requirements under California law to allow nurse-midwives and nurse practitioners to independently provide first-trimester medication abortion care. The in-person training prepares CNMs, CMs, NPs, and PAs to provide first-trimester manual vacuum aspiration abortion care. For midwives and nurse practitioners in California, this training meets the requirements under SB 1375, allowing you to practice without physician supervision.

Ana Delgado,MS, RN, CNM is a Clinical Professor in the UCSF Department of Obstetrics, Gynecology and Reproductive Sciences, San Francisco General Hospital (SFGH) Division. Ana splits her time between clinical practice and administration, teaching, and community-based advocacy. Ana is active both regionally and nationally in efforts to diversify the midwifery workforce, support physiologic birth, and participates in community-based efforts to transform how low-income women are supported and cared for throughout the reproductive life cycle.
Sarah Egan, CNM, is a graduate of Columbia University's midwifery program, and the Director of Medical Services at Planned Parenthood of Pasadena and San Gabriel Valley. She is a leader in procedural abortion training and looks forward to a future where abortion care is part of the core competencies for all healthcare providers.
Paris Maloof-Bury is a midwife and Clinician Team Lead at Sutter Davis Women’s Health in California. Unless we are traveling & don't have time, I rarely eat at chain restaurants. Ask my kids, it's one of my pet peeves. It's because the food is pre-cooked and reheated, often in a microwave. I always prefer a highly-rated non-chain local eatery. Not saying these places NEVER reheat food, but the chains rarely cook from scratch. https://www.mashed.com/102267/signs-youre-eating-pre-made-food-restaurant/

The kissing & physical touch releases oxytocin & endorphins in both mom & baby. Physical touch, smell, sound and taste are all engaging a child's brain in a way that creates emotional safety, bonding & love. Children who are not cuddled & kissed become emotionally detached & distant. On the immunology side, your body is picking up on bacteria & potential pathogens on baby, then creating immunoglobulins that are delivered through breastmilk to the baby, whose immune system is still maturing. Sun & light exposure will also change the amount of melatonin in breastmilk so that night time breastmilk has about 10 x more melatonin in it than morning milk. It is a marvelous biological symphony of hormones, fat ratios & immune factors! 🌸🫶
