💜 One of the best parts of hospice care is how caregivers and families become lifelong friends. Today, we were reminded of that when a former caregiver, now dear friend, joined us last minute to help judge the Chili Cookoff at Oakview Manor. 🌶️
Moments like these show how community, compassion, and connection continue long after hospice care ends. Thank you Mr. Leroy and Oakview Manor for a fun afternoon!

With over 13 years of nursing experience, Katie brings both compassion and dedication to her role as a hospice nurse. As a mother of two daughters, she balances her professional and personal life with grace, drawing strength from both her family and her calling.
Katie finds deep fulfillment in being a nurse, especially in hospice care, where she has the unique opportunity to support patients and their families during some of life’s most meaningful moments. For her, being able to provide comfort, dignity, and peace is not just a job, it’s a privilege.
Outside of work, Katie enjoys staying active, spending time outdoors, and taking in live music whenever she can. Her warm spirit and commitment to helping others continue to make a lasting impact on everyone she cares for.

🌿 Today we remember 9/11 and those lost in recent national tragedies. Grief is something we carry together—as families, communities, and a nation. In hospice, we are reminded that peace and comfort come through love, presence, and compassion. Our prayer is for peace in our homes, our nation, and our world. May we honor the past and walk forward with hope. 🌟

🌟 Staff Spotlight: Carol Dawkins, CNA 🌟

For over 30 years, Carol Dawkins has dedicated her life to caring for others as a Certified Nursing Assistant. At Community Hospice, Carol goes the extra mile for her patients and coworkers, always bringing kindness and compassion to every visit. She also serves at Oakview Manor Nursing Facility as a Restorative Aide, continuing her mission of helping people live with dignity and comfort.

Outside of her professional work, Carol’s heart for service shines just as bright. She is the proud owner of “Carol’s Baskets”, creating beautiful custom baskets for any occasion, and she’s known for her love of decorating for parties and community events. A true giver, Carol also delivers meals to the homeless and homebound—small acts of kindness that make a big difference.

Carol treasures her family deeply, especially her daughter Yasmine and her grandson Kannon, who holds a very special place in her heart. She is also a faithful member of the Church of God by Faith, where her commitment to service extends even further into the community.

We are honored to have Carol as part of our hospice family. Her dedication, compassion, and servant’s heart make her a true pillar in our community. 💙

Known for her warm smile, energetic spirit, and deep knowledge, Ashlee brings positivity and compassion to everything she does. She's also a dependable teammate, always ready to jump in and help her coworkers whenever needed.

🌟 Staff Spotlight: Yolanda Williams
Office Manager, Community Hospice of Dale Medical Center

We are proud to shine the spotlight on one of our own — Yolanda Williams, who has been a beloved part of the Community Hospice family for many years.

She first joined Community Hospice in 2006 as a Cerified Nursing Assistant, providing compassionate care to our patients until 2015. In July of 2016, we were thrilled to welcome her back — this time as our Office Manager. Her knowledge, dedication, and heart for hospice have made her invaluable and a source of support for both staff and families.

What she loves most about working at Community Hospice is the deep sense of connection. "We’re not just coworkers — we’re a family," she says. "And I’m constantly inspired by the kindness and care our nurses, aides, social worker, chaplain and volunteers show to every single patient."

Outside of work, Yolanda, is a proud mom of four and a grandmother to six wonderful grandchildren — the true lights of her life.

Thank you, Yolanda, for your years of service and your heart for service. We are so grateful to have you as part of our hospice family!

📣 Team Spotlight: Stephanie Thompson, BSW, LMSW
Hospice Social Worker | Community Hospice

Stephanie Thompson has been a dedicated social worker for over 30 years, with the last 17 years spent serving patients and families at Community Hospice.

She earned her Bachelor of Social Work from Troy State University and her Master of Social Work from the University of Alabama. Stephanie has helped countless families navigate the hospice journey—offering guidance during end-of-life decisions and providing compassionate grief support after loss.

As a hospice social worker, Stephanie is a vital part of the care team. She assists with emotional and practical needs, helping patients and families find peace, comfort, and clarity during one of life’s most difficult transitions.

Stephanie and her husband Billy have three children, four grandchildren, and are excited to welcome a new grandbaby soon! 💛

We are grateful for her heart, her experience, and her unwavering commitment to our community.
