A recent study published in the Journal of Food Science provides one theory: The caffeine in coffee stimulates us while dulling our taste buds in the process. This makes foods and drinks seem less sweet, triggering a craving for sugar, according to Cornell University researchers. And your altered perception of taste lasts as long as the effects of the caffeine last.

Today more than ever there is a push to really examine and know what you are putting in, on and around your body.

Your skin is your largest organ and a big and is your bodies largest defense as well, but it is also a way into our body. From household cleaners to beauty products preservatives in our foods to pollutants in the air, toxins are accumulating.

This build up can lead to fatigue, digestive issues, skin issues as well as long term health conditions.

Detox Strategies:
Hydration to flush your system
Incorporate antioxidants
Eating a high fiber diet to help remove waste more efficiently

Ladies our HORMONES do so much! I think typical physicians don‘t always dive deep enough when we aren’t feeling well……However, if you have your cycles and you notice some gnarly PMS symptoms days 14-21 sometimes we have more in our control then we would like to believe.
If you can decrease your stressors, like strenuous exercise, this may help those pesky PMS symptoms. Your progesterone is increasing during this time and additional stress can further off balance your body. However, maintaining some exercise and movement can release endorphins improving mood and decreasing stress and bloating.

You can also think supplementation during this time. Increasing your magnesium and vitamin B6 may help alleviate some emotional symptoms like irritability and anxiety. Calcium and Vitamin D has shown to help physical and emotional symptoms of PMS and Omega-3 fatty acids can reduce inflammation and improve mood.

As always, hydration is important. It can boost your mood and decrease bloating.
