Most people are told their core is weak. In reality, true core weakness is rare. What we see far more often is a core that cannot engage because the surrounding system is restricted.
The core is not just abs. It is a coordinated system of muscles, connective tissue, nerves, and pressure management through the lumbar spine, pelvis, diaphragm, and deep anterior chain. When those tissues are stiff, overloaded, or neurologically inhibited, bracing creates pain instead of stability.
In this case, core testing reproduced pain immediately. Strength was present. Control was not. By releasing restrictions on the right and left sides, then addressing the interior spinal line through the neck, abdomen, and lumbar spine, the system could finally coordinate. On retest, the same core brace produced no pain.
This is why endless core exercises fail so many people. A fully functioning fascia environment is required before strength can express itself. When tissue slides, nerves communicate, and pressure systems normalize, core engagement becomes effortless.
