Sonja lived a life defined by kindness, service and quiet strength. She spent many years working in the service industry, where she was known for her steady work ethic, warm personality, and natural ability to make people feel welcome. Outside of work, she continued to serve others through the church, volunteering her time whenever help was needed. She participated in several mission trips, offering the same compassion and grounded humility that made her such a beloved presence. She will be remembered for a lifetime of service for the way she showed up, day after day, with kindness, dedication, and an open heart.
Away from work and volunteering, she poured the same care into the things she created. She was an amazing crocheter, crafting blankets, dish rags, potholders, and gifts that carried her love in every stitch. Family and friends treasured anything she made as each piece was thoughtful, personal, and made to last. She was also an exceptional baker. Whether it was homemade cakes, cookies, or treats for holidays, her kitchen was a place of warmth and comfort. She took great pride in everything she baked, especially if it was for her family. You could feel her love through everything she made or baked.
Above all, she loved her family. She cherished her children, grandchildren, and especially her great-grandchildren, who brought a special light to her life, providing endless joy. A true matriarch of the family, she created lasting traditions and ensured every holiday was celebrated. She also celebrated every milestone, big or small, with warmth and love.
She was deeply loved and adored not only by her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren, but by the many friends whose lives she brightened along the way. Her kindness, her warmth, and her steady presence will be remembered always, and her legacy lives on in every person who had the privilege of knowing her.
Sonja will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her.
In accordance with Sonja’s wishes, her family will gather at a later date for a final farewell.
