If you ever find yourself in the company of those that have dedicated there life to stand for justice you will have found home. I cannot wait to be close to you all again because my activist community has my heart and I love you so much.

My lil “Himsy” turned 1 today and it is no coincidence that this has been the best year of my entire life. I have completely changed my life in so many ways because of her. Why?Simply put...just to see her smile.

I cannot wait to tell you about your mother. One day we will sit down and I will let you know how the Queen from the moment she knew you existed has made this life about loving and caring for you. No one including myself has given more to ensure your well being and safety. Your mother has set the tone for this relationship that you and I have and for that my admiration has no limit. You and I together will care for your Mother because I have never in my life seen love like the love she has created for you.

How do I stay happy in the face of so much suffering? It is partly because I realize the impermanence of our current situation. I am able to see the blue sky behind the storm clouds. I need not worry and suffer about what might happen because that is only my imagination and it is not real. I find comfort and compassion in my breathe. I find peace by approaching my meditation with creativity and void of judgement. I will deal with whatever comes our way with love. How could we ever expect to create a compassionate and loving world without showing love and compassion in our actions towards others...

I got your back little one. The basics of food, water, and shelter are a given but that is not my greatest gift to you. The gift I cherish for you will be an undying effort to keep that beautiful compassion you were born with intact. I will use nature as a model for how you should live your life because only when we strive to live as the trees do will we achieve our purpose. Yes my love we will be different than most of your friends but that is only because we live a life of service to Mother Earth to which there is no greater purpose. We will celebrate the life of all beings and find that our joy is and always has been within us and nowhere else.

It took me awhile to realize that it was not riding the wave that felt so good but rather the presence of mind in that moment that was special. What people may not realize is that when you are doing something that takes all of your focus and presence without distraction you get a taste of enlightenment. To almost drown one moment and fly the next is a feeling only a surfer can know. The ocean will lift you up like a God and humble you a moment later. Patience, presence, and respect are her lessons.

Today I was a guest in the Tennessee back country. This is Shawnee and Chickasaw land and out of respect to indigenous people of this area I walked softly and left no trace.
