This looks like play.
But for many kids, this is how the brain learns to organize itself.
Over–under movement patterns give the nervous system clear input about where the body is in space.
That input helps integrate primitive reflexes that should have faded in early development.
When reflexes stay active, kids often struggle with focus, regulation, coordination, and emotional control.
Not because they are choosing to.
But because their brain is still working from a survival-based foundation.
We start with movement because learning, behavior, and calm all depend on what comes first in brain development.
When the body feels safer and more organized, everything else gets easier.
