The Papillion Center - Paducah, Kentucky

The Papillion Center - Paducah, Kentucky We are a nonprofit, faith-based family counseling center, located in Paducah, KY, specializing in trauma, attachment, FASD, NAS, and general family dynamics.

The Papillion Center is a faith-based, not-for-profit 501 (c)(3) therapeutic center that aims to bring about hope and healing to children and families in hard places. We specialize in counseling foster and adoptive families, as well as youth that have had prenatal exposure to drugs and alcohol, but our goal is to assist and walk by your side no matter the difficulty or crisis you are facing. We offer individual therapy, couples therapy, family therapy, child and adolescent therapy, and group therapy. Our work is based on Trust-Based Relational Intervention (TBRI) and The Connected Child (Purvis & Cross.) While we don't accept insurance for therapy, we charge on a sliding scale and grants may be available to help you out. Our registered therapy dog, Honey, is excited to meet you!

After nearly six years of dedicated service to our community, our beloved Honey is retiring.

It is hard to say, but she has been diagnosed with cancer and will be spending her remaining days at home.

We cordially invite you to join us in celebrating her life on Friday, October 3, from 1:00-3:30 pm at The Papillion Center, located at 5105 Mayfield Metropolis Road.

Honey will be available throughout the afternoon for photographs, hugs, and snuggles. Cards will also be provided for you to share your thoughts, memories, and well-wishes.

🚨 Fetal Alcohol Syndrome (FAS) – A Preventable Tragedy 🚨

Fetal Alcohol Syndrome (FAS) is a serious condition that develops when a mother consumes alcohol during pregnancy. Alcohol passes directly through the placenta, affecting the baby’s brain, growth, and development — leaving lifelong consequences.

👶 Key physical signs of FAS include:

Microcephaly (small head size)

Small eye openings (palpebral fissures)

Low nasal bridge & upturned nose

Smooth philtrum (area between nose & upper lip)

Thin vermilion border (upper lip)

Flat midface & underdeveloped jaw

“Railroad track” ears & epicanthal folds

⚠️ Beyond physical features, children with FAS often face:

Learning disabilities

Behavioral challenges

Speech and language delays

Poor coordination and growth problems

💡 The most important fact: FAS is 100% preventable. No amount of alcohol during pregnancy is safe. Choosing to avoid alcohol entirely can protect a child’s future health, development, and quality of life.

❤️ Every mother’s choice matters. Protecting a baby begins before birth — let’s spread awareness to ensure no child has to suffer from something that can be completely avoided.

🎉✨ HISTORIC NEWS FOR THE FASD COMMUNITY❣️✨🎉

We are thrilled to share that the FASD Respect Act language has officially passed the U.S. Senate as part of the SUPPORT Reauthorization Act of 2025 (HR.2483) and now heads to the President’s desk to be signed into law! ✍️

This is a milestone moment for the 1 in 20 Americans living with Fetal Alcohol Spectrum Disorders ( ). For too long, families and self-advocates have gone without recognition or resources at the federal level. Today, Congress has taken a historic step toward changing that reality.

💡 What this legislation does:
🎯Authorizes a federal response to FASD.
🎯Allows the U.S. Department of Health & Human Services to fund education, prevention, and awareness programs nationwide.
🎯Provides resources to States and Tribes to build FASD-informed services into their systems of care.
🎯Brings hope, recognition, and validation to families and self-advocates who have fought for years to be heard.

This victory is thanks to the bipartisan leadership of Sen. Lisa Murkowski (R-AK), and Sen. Amy Klobuchar (D-MN), plus Rep. Don Bacon (R-NE) Rep. Betty McCollum (D-MN), and to the tireless voices of advocates, families, and self-advocates across the country.

As Susan Shepard Carlson, former First Lady of Minnesota and past FASD United Board Chair, reminds us: “The passage of FASD authorization is truly historic and a huge victory for the FASD field. This would not have happened without the bipartisan leadership in the House and Senate, and the united effort of so many advocates around the country.”

👏 THANK YOU to everyone who raised your voice, called your legislators, shared your story, and stood with the FASD community. This is YOUR win.
