"A soft-spoken man, a brilliant researcher and a compassionate physician.” Those are the words etched on a plaque of the newly dedicated lab area in memory of William Tsun-Yan Tse, M.D., Ph.D., who passed away in March 2025.

Upon his passing, the family wanted to honor his legacy as a nationally recognized physician-scientist in pediatric oncology research and care through a donation to the Norton Children’s Hospital Foundation. His niece, Winnie Tse, along with colleagues and medical staff gathered recently to reflect on his work, celebrate his accomplishments and dedicate the space.

We were proud to present the DAISY Award for Nursing Ethics to Mona Sadler, whose extraordinary compassion guided a patient’s 17-month journey in our NICU.

Mona’s gentle routines, steady presence, and support for the family created meaningful moments during an unimaginably difficult time.

Play with purpose! Thanks to a generous $15,000 grant from The Toy Foundation, our Child Life team at Norton Children’s Hospital is bringing even more comfort and healing to patients. This support helped us add sensory and therapeutic games, books, and toys that ease stress, encourage expression, and help kids feel more at home during their stay. We’re so grateful to The Toy Foundation for turning playtime into powerful moments of care and connection 💫 .

Santa brought more than holiday cheer to the Norton Children’s Autism Center, he brought meaningful moments 🎅. In a sensory-friendly setting, our patients enjoyed a peaceful visit made even more special by our Heel Dog, Heal partner, Echo, who lent a comforting and familiar paw.

After 20 years working downtown, Darlene Marshall transitioned to Norton Children’s Medical Center when it opened in northeast Louisville in 2010. She dedicated her entire career to respiratory therapy and has always felt that caring for children was her true calling.👩🏽‍🍼 She describes it as a gift to witness daily miracles and form lifelong friendships with her coworkers, many of whom still gather regularly to stay connected.
