Local communities have seen a significant rise in lost communication skills, especially in those who were 5 or under when the COVID-19 pandemic started. Along with communication skills, the community has also seen lower academic scores and higher rates of adolescent mental health illnesses. Lumera's Brandon Morehead, PA-C, CAQ-Psych, states that "Since the COVID pandemic, we've seen trends that have doubled depression and anxiety in children and adolescents, and with those come decreased brain functioning."

Thankfully, the Lumera team is tackling these issues daily alongside families through: psychiatry, therapy, group therapy, family therapy and more.

We had a blast at the Lumera Employee Easter Event!

Our employees showed off their balance and speed in the egg-and-spoon race (using their two fingers instead of a spoon)! Meanwhile, the kiddos had a fantastic time hunting the area for hidden Easter eggs! Check out the smiles and laughter!

We're starting something new at Lumera: "Drumming Up Healing: A Trauma Group".

This group integrates drum therapy and elements of EMDR to help participants:

-Experience safe connection and support within a trauma-informed environment
-Reconnect with emotions that may have previously felt difficult to access
-Strengthen emotional regulation skills
-Shift how they see and understand themselves
-Begin releasing the impact of past trauma
