Why the “MD” matters

The difference between a Medspa and a Day Spa is the level of medical supervision. Lasers, Radio Frequency, Injectables and and ultrasound energy technologies (Ultherapy) require the highest levels of expertise and oversight that Dr. Jena provides.

You can have full confidence knowing you are getting the highest level of anatomical knowledge, education and medical training, skill and care from a licensed MD at Ruxer Medspa. Dr. Jena is full time at the medspa, devoting 100% of her working hours to her medspa practice since 2022 (i.e. she does not make hospital rounds or have another type of practice)

Additionally, Shelby Smothers, APRN (working closely under the direction of Dr. Jena) has been an RN since 2011 with her Masters in Nursing Education and received her APRN in 2024. Shelby is very experienced in Emergency Medicine and is a trained injector under Dr. Ruxer as well as a technician in some of our more advanced medspa technologies.
