They hold a Bachelor in Fine Arts from the Maryland Institute College of Art, where they were fascinated by the anatomical form and range of movement, and primarily focused on the creation of figurative works in paint, clay, and drawing. Baltimore is also where they initially studied yoga under Shariff Roberts and Moses Brown. Their first yoga practices included Ashtanga, Anusara, Sivananda, and Iyengar yoga. With this deep interest in human expression and body psychology, they wanted to continue to focus their studies in the art of Acupuncture and East Asian Medicine. They went on to earn a Master’s Degree in 5 Element Acupuncture from Maryland University of Integrative Health (formerly TAI Sophia) in 2004, and is a Licensed Acupuncturist in the State of Alaska and Hawaii. After moving to Alaska in 2006, they started a small clinic until opening Spirit Path Yoga and Wellness in 2011. This business offered therapeutic movement practices and treatments, educational opportunities for the community, and continuing education for health care providers. The facility was also the home of Spirit Path Ayurveda Education, a nationally recognized and accredited Ayurveda school. Spirit Path Yoga and Wellness housed a multitude of services including Western Medicine, Naturopathic Medicine, Acupuncture, Massage Therapy, Ayurveda, Mental Health, and Chiropractic care. They earned their Āyurvedic Educator certification through Kanyakumari Ayurveda, and their Ayurvedic Practitioner certification through Spirit Path Āyurveda Education. Cosmo is a NAMA recognized provider, and has continued their studies in Ayurveda. They have training in Kampo medicine, which is Japanese herbal pharmaceuticals which they use in addition to Traditional Chinese Medicine. They have taken multiple courses in Japanese manual therapies and specialized Acupuncture approaches. They served for 10 years as Secretary for Acupuncture for Alaska, the state association. Cosmo has relocated to the Island of Hawaii and has a new practice in Pahoa where they provide patient care as well as community education. In their practice, they incorporate Acupuncture, herbs, diet therapy, lifestyle counseling, manual therapies, subtle energy healing, therapeutic yoga and movement therapy, and work with all ages from infant care to the elderly. Their passion lies in enjoying the arts, but spends much of their own creative time gardening, parenting, cooking, and dedicating their weekdays to patient care.
