Those little root beer plants, Ploygala Paniculata, contain methyl salicylicate which has minor stimulant and analgesic properties when ingested in safe amounts. But if you combine it with a predose of cinnamon, clove, black pepper, chamomile, and nutmeg oil, it can block certain metabolic enzymes that break down the compound. At that point the effects become more psychedelic/euphoric. Some people call that oilhuasca. Same thing works with other plants that contain smelly vlolitile compounds such as the false kava plant, Piper Auritum, which contains large amounts of Safrole oil, The precursor to M**A...

The bill for the Puna Makai Alternative Route just died at County council level. It took 40 years just yo get this bill heard, and it just died because more people from Hilo anc Panaewa came to testify against it. We have no Alternative routes put of Puna... I'd the Lava comes and cuts use off, there is no way out.. let that sink in. The people of Puna, Hawaiian families included will be cut off from the rest of the island if the lava decides to flow that direction... families could die because of other people's selfishness. The bill already removed Hawaiian Homelands from the study. That land was NOT going to be included because they did not want to be included, but that doesn't mean that the bill had to die. Now how many more people will suffer because of this? How bad will traffic have to get on HWY 130 before people realize that this was the ONLY chance we had to get a study done for this. And this was just for the study!!! SMH.

"Kindness is like a seed. Plant it in others and watch it grow" draws a comparison between the act of kindness and the process of planting seeds in nature.

Beginning with Potential. Just as a tiny seed carries the potential to grow into a flourishing plant, a simple act of kindness has the potential to blossom into something much larger. Even if it seems small at the outset, its impact can be immense.

Nurturing Environment. Seeds require the right conditions to grow: sunlight, water, and fertile soil. Similarly, kindness needs a receptive heart and a supportive environment. When someone benefits from an act of kindness, they're more likely to pass it on, creating a domino effect.

Growth Over Time. A seed doesn’t transform into a full-grown plant overnight. It needs time and patience. Similarly, the effects of kindness may not always be immediate. But with time, consistent acts of kindness can lead to a more compassionate community or society.

Rooting Deep. Just as a plant lays down roots, making it stronger and more resilient, kindness can anchor individuals, giving them strength during challenging times. People remember acts of kindness and often draw upon those memories for comfort and inspiration.

The Yield. A plant that grows from a seed eventually bears fruit or flowers. Similarly, kindness often leads to positive outcomes. The person who receives kindness may be inspired to extend a helping hand to someone else, and thus, the cycle continues.

In essence, this quote reminds us that even small acts of kindness can have a profound and lasting impact, both on the individual who receives it and the broader community. By being kind, we're planting seeds of positivity, hope, and compassion that can grow and spread throughout our world.

Hawaiian Baby Woodrose, also known as Argyreia nervosa, is a perennial climbing vine that's native to the Indian subcontinent and introduced to numerous areas worldwide, including Hawaii, Africa, and the Caribbean. It's best known for its large, heart-shaped leaves and beautiful pink or purple flowers.

This plant is a member of the Convolvulaceae family, which includes morning glories. Like its relatives, it's a vigorous grower and prefers to climb. Its name "baby woodrose" derives from the fact that its seed pods resemble small wooden roses.

Argyreia nervosa seeds contain various ergoline alkaloids, and are sometimes used recreationally for their psychoactive properties, although this is generally considered illegal in many places and the experience is often reported to be unpleasant, including significant nausea.

Aside from its psychoactive properties, the Hawaiian Baby Woodrose has been used traditionally in Ayurvedic medicine, and is considered a holy herb in various indigenous cultures.

However, it's worth mentioning that using plants with psychoactive substances can carry significant risks and negative side effects, and should never be undertaken without full understanding of the legal and health implications.

If you're considering growing the plant for ornamental purposes, it's worth noting that it can be invasive in certain tropical environments due to its robust growth. Always check local regulations and be aware of the potential impact on local ecosystems.

Happy International Cat Day!
Did you know:
International Cat Day was established in 2002 by the International Fund for Animal Welfare (IFAW), one of the largest animal welfare and conservation charities in the world.
This day promotes the health benefits of owning a cat. Studies have shown that owning a cat can reduce stress and anxiety, lower risk of heart attack, and improve sleep.

While August 8th is recognized globally, some countries have their own National Cat Days. For instance, Japan celebrates theirs on February 22nd, Russia on March 1st, and the United States on October 29th.

It's not just domestic cats that are celebrated. The day is also an opportunity to raise awareness about the conservation of wild cat species, many of which are endangered.

Cats are one of the oldest and most beloved pets. Archaeological evidence suggests that cats have been living alongside humans and helping control populations of rats, mice, and other pests for over 9,500 years.

Some organizations and cat shelters hold special events on International Cat Day like "adoptathons", discounts on adoption fees, or cat care workshops to encourage adoption and education about cat welfare.

International Cat Day also sparks conversations about the importance of neutering and spaying. These measures help control the population of stray and feral cats, preventing many from living difficult lives on the streets.

Cat videos and images flood social media on International Cat Day. It's a perfect time to showcase the beauty, quirkiness, and fun-loving nature of our feline friends.
