Hip Flexor Stretch on the Reformer

This psoas stretch on the reformer comes at the end of a lunge and hamstring stretch and strengthening series. It requires significant flexibility in both hips on opposite sides of the hip joint.
The resistance of the springs of the reformer allow for the use of reciprocal inhibition to assist the individual in finding a deeper stretch by taking advantage of a natural neuromuscular process

Standing Leg Press on the Chair

Every action has an equal and opposite reaction. At first this exercise look like the challenge is for the bent leg to move the pedal up and down. After you try it, you can feel that the real work is in the standing leg. In order to create the curve needed to move the pedal you must use the friction and the ground reaction force through the standing leg foot.

Balance on one leg with good posture is hard enough, but for Oliver to move the pedal he has to stabilize his standing leg hip and engage significant core strength to transfer the energy from the ground.

Metronome also called the Reverse Tower or Parakeet and Shoulder Roll Down

This exercise is an advanced variation of bridging that requires sequential movement of the spine and the ability to stabilize your neutral spine with core muscles of the torso. In addition, it requires significant strength in the calves and hamstrings to support hip extension in this elevated supine plank.

Variations include single leg balances, hamstring curls and hip circles

This is not easy!

Maile is showing impressive strength and control in this position. The straps are pulling back and down. With her arms straight and overhead, her shoulders are in one of the most difficult positions for strength and control.

She’s keeping her shoulder blades connected to her back to help her access her rotator cuff for alignment and not to use the neck.

Her obliques and transverse abdominal muscles are fully engaged to maintain her torso alignment, but also to resist the force of the straps coming through the arms vía that shoulder blade connection.

Her face may look relaxed, but inside she not only physically working hard but she’s thinking hard! It takes concentration and thoughtfulness to move with this kind of strength and coordination!
