The holidays are coming… and so is the stress!

Between travel, family gatherings, and mile-long to-do lists, our bodies can hold tension in sneaky places, including the pelvic floor.
When we’re stressed, we clench (hello, jaw + shoulders), and that same tension can show up as pelvic tightness, pain, or bladder changes.

Here’s your gentle reminder:
>Your pelvic floor doesn’t take a holiday break.
> Stress relief starts with body awareness.
>Staying consistent with your care now means less tension and more peace through the season.

Take a few deep breaths, unclench your jaw (and your pelvic floor), and give your body the calm it deserves before the holiday rush hits.

What is “Just in Case Peeing” and Why It Matters?

“Just in case peeing” is the habit of urinating even when your bladder isn’t full, often to prevent leaks or accidents. While it may feel safe in the moment, it can actually:

~Make your bladder more sensitive over time
~Cause increased urgency and frequency
~Strain your pelvic floor muscles, leading to tension or discomfort

At Kare Pelvic Health, our pelvic floor therapy can help:

~Strengthen and coordinate your pelvic floor muscles for better support
~Use bladder training techniques to improve bladder control
~Teach relaxation strategies to reduce pelvic floor tension
~Break the “just in case” habit, helping your bladder work when it truly needs to

Pelvic floor therapy isn’t just about treatment, it’s about understanding your body and regaining control. At KPH, we’re here to guide you every step of the way.

🌟Totally Myth-Informed🌟

Myth: Pelvic floor issues only affect women who have given birth.

Fact: Pelvic floor dysfunction doesn’t discriminate! While pregnancy and childbirth can increase risk, pelvic floor issues can affect men, women at any stage of life, and even children.
Men can experience problems like urinary incontinence or pelvic pain. Women may face issues long before or after pregnancy. And kids can develop symptoms like constipation or urinary challenges.

The pelvic floor is all about core support and control, and anyone can experience dysfunction. Early awareness and proper care can make a huge difference!
Pelvic floor health is for everyone, not just postpartum women. Don’t ignore symptoms, no matter your age or gender!

Vaginismus can show up in small, everyday ways such as, difficulty inserting a tampon, fear of a routine pelvic exam, pain with in*******se, or a feeling of tightness you can’t control.

These experiences are real and valid. 💛

Our pelvic floor therapists help you understand what’s happening and give you tools to relax, release, and reconnect with your body.

Watch as Emily explain how we approach this with compassion and care.

What started as a normal day of treating patients here at KPH quickly took a dark and chilling turn. One by one our therapists were visited by the ghosts of their pelvic floor nightmares and in the blink of an eye our clinic had turned into a haunted house of pelvic floor horrors. 😱

Apparently the ghost scared us so bad we spelled “you’re” wrong!

Happy Halloween from the haunted
halls of KPH,

What hormones do we need to know about when talking about perimenopause and menopause? 🩸
Estrogen ➡️ There are many different forms. Almost every cell in our bodies have estrogen receptors.

Progesterone ➡️Prepares the body for a potential pregnancy after ovulation- triggers the lining to thicken to accept a fertilized egg. It also prohibits the muscle contraction in the uterus that would cause the body to reject an egg.

It also:
✨ Influences smooth muscle relaxation in pregnancy.
✨ Works to balance estrogen
✨ Is important for mood and sleep

Testosterone ➡️ In women's bodies, testosterone is produced in the ovaries, adrenal glands, fat cells and skin cells. Generally women make about 1/10th to 10/20th of the amount of men.

It also affects:
✨ Musculoskeletal health
✨ Breast health
✨ Fertility
✨ S*x drive
✨ Menstrual/vaginal health
✨ Brain and cognitive function

Now that we have the foundation for our conversation, stay tuned for our next few posts where we will dive deeper into perimenopause, menopause and all of this relates to your pelvic floor.

Some major functions include:

✨ Direct relationship with breathing

Are you having issues with stabilizing during movement? Controlling your bladder or bowel? Intimacy issues? It may be pelvic health related!

How do you know if what you’re experiencing is perimenopause❓

Remember it can start while you’re still having menstrual cycles…kind of confusing, right?

Here’s what we can do to see if it is perimenopause ⬇️
✨ We might ask you to track your cycles so you can see changes from cycle to cycle
✨ We might ask you to track ovulation
✨ It’s also a possibility that we might request some bloodwork

When we put all of this information together, we often will see:

⬆️ high estrogen
⬇️ low progesterone
😳 anxiety
😫 depression
🛏️ insomnia
👎🏼 breast tenderness
💓 heart palpitations
🥵 hot flashes/night sweats
🧠 headaches
🩸heavy cramping or irregular cycles

It’s also important to note that there are other hormones involved and as pelvic floor therapists, it is our job to help you identify which may be problematic. We will often refer you to someone that specializes in hormones that can assist you with that while we address your pelvic floor symptoms.

➡️ Send this post to someone you know who might be struggling with any of these symptoms!
